Our Wedding Shapes Up!

Our Wedding Shapes Up! : wedding ceremony los angeles 1 1

What do you think of our ceremony set-up? That’s right peeps (especially my fellow theater majors) we’re gonna do this thing in the round. I know it sounds a little dirty, but I promise it’ll be good clean fun. And when I ran this recent bit of inspiration by F Stripes, her matter-of-fact response was, “I’ve always wanted to get married like that.” Hmm. Who knew? So, yippee! All systems are go.

Let’s get started. I know y’all are supersmartiepants, but I’ll spell it out anyways:

The heart represents a small table/altar which will be surrounded by chairs (and guests) that form a circle around the two of us. Doesn’t that sound just dreamy? The circle is a pretty powerful cultural symbol of oneness and unity, so it’s the perfect shape to designate the sacred space in which we’ll get married! Oh, and yes, I’ve chosen a gift icon to represent our guests, a totally random decision. Moving on and perhaps most important, the arrows represent the two aisles we’re gonna rock at our two-bride wedding.

The music will start and our flower girl, ring bearer, and mature child escort* will dance, toddle, and/or drag the little guys down the aisles. The rings will be placed on the table (not to worry—those suckers are gonna be tied down to something before we let the little monster at ‘em) and the munchkins will play on the ground or get scooped up by their parents/willing family members.

Team Awesome, aka our Bridesmaids, will enter one at a time down each aisle (so two HOT ladies will be walkin’ in at a time, yo!) and will meet in the middle and sit down. Hear that ladies? Feel free to indulge in the most freakin’ fantastic and uncomfortable shoes you can find!

And of course, the real beauty of the double aisle is that we can both walk down it at the exact same time! There won’t be any awkward who’s gonna be the man and wait at the end of the aisle bullshit because, hello, in case ya forgot, we’re both wearing dresses to this shindig! And we’re gonna meet in the middle of the aisle super egalitarian style. Loves it! The simplicity and importance of just the two of us standing together surrounded by our loved ones as we say our vows really resonates for us. It just feels right. How’s that for magic?

I hope it’ll feel a little like this:

And if you need more inspiration (or even if you don’t) you must go here and check out this fantastic snowy wedding. sigh. Thanks again, Meg!

Anyone attended or participated in a wedding in the round? And what ceremony revelations have you had lately?

This is awesome and I especially love the fact that you two get to walk in at the same time. Loved your quote telling your BMs that they are more than welcome to find the most fantastic and uncomfortable shoes eva! haha!

Oh I love it :) I really wanted our ceremony in the round but the patio is too small and my idea to get married in the pretty meadow near the venue was vetoed by everyone because we’d have to rent chairs since the venue won’t let us borrow there to haul off the patio. Crappers.

Two thumbs up the girls get to sit down and BIG thumbs up you both get to walk down the aisle at the same time :) From different directions I think is awesome!

I love the idea of a ceremony in the round, but it just wouldn’t work with our venue. You guys walking in towards each other is going to be just magic!

I want a wedding in the round too! There’s a picture on the Disney Weddings website that has a giant circle of tables with an arbor in the middle of the circle. But I think the wedding pictured is only 50 guests are so and I’m expecting double that. It’ll be a huge circle! Maybe I need circles in tiers like you have.

With everyone seated in a circle it’s just more visually interesting!! (Fellow theatre major!) And since it’s the dinner table people can have their appetizers to munch on while we ceremoniate (I just made that up.)

Sorry for hijacking… back to you Stripes!

I love it! I wanted to have everyone seated in a circle around us too. It got lost along the way but it worked out well in the end the way it was. (It usually does after all!) So I shall live vicariously through you instead. :-)

That is such a great idea! We are still trying to figure out how we want to do the wedding layout as the section of park we will be having it in is still under renovation. Maybe we’ll end up doing a round or half moon arrangement around this little grassy mound. =)

It sounds perfect! Just picture walking towards each other at the same time - if it were me, I’d totally giggle out of sheer happiness.

I love the vision! Getting married in the round is a killer concept. And it’s going to be so dramatic when both of you walk down the aisles at the same time!!!

I have been to a “round” wedding ceremony! It worked out beautifully and felt very inclusive. Yay for round!
