The Dress Saga Continues…

April 15th, 2010 @ 1:35 pm by Mrs. Hot Dog

**Mr. Hot Dog, do NOT open this post, OR ELSE** kthanks.

After my first dress post, many of you expressed that you wanted to see me IN the dress. Well, it turns out I never even took any!! SAD! So what did I do? I whipped her out of the closet and figured out how to use the self-timer on my camera!

This dress gives me such an awesome shape! And look at that train… MMM.

While I had my camera out, I decided to do a little photo shoot in my new dress! But before I show you, I’d better tell you how she came to be.

After deciding to find something new, I scoured the internet some more. I happened upon a website that sold new and previously owned/worn wedding gowns, PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com. Let me tell you, it is a GOLD MINE. Most of the gowns are previously worn, but there are also many that have never seen the aisle. Such is the case with mine.

And, once again, I got an awesome deal! $300 for a brand-spanking-new dress, with tag still attached!

Without further ado, I give you my Dessy Group Sandals/Beaches Resort Collection Style # 1007PA.

Ta da! See how different the two dresses are?! Wow. I love the simplicity of it, with the short train and no embellishment. The mermaid style, I think, is very flattering.

The Dress Saga Continues... : wedding cheyenne wedding dress Cimg09402

This one from the front is slightly less flattering, partly due to the fact that the top of this dress is about 3 inches too big!! When my arms aren’t holding it up, it sort of just flops out and totally hides what little curves I do have!

The Dress Saga Continues... : wedding cheyenne wedding dress Cimg095

I like this one from the back, partly because my tushy looks cute! I’m working on slimming it down even more before the wedding (post to come!). Also, it looks like there’s a brown stain on my right butt cheek. When I saw this picture, I had a mini-meltdown until I examined it and found that there wasn’t anything there! Thank goodness.

This is close to what she’ll look like after alterations. A VAST improvement, IMO!

But, y’all are going to kill me. Looking at myself in the first dress, my original feelings start to come back… I notice the beautiful beading and lace detail and the feeling of being a princess. But the second one is so classic. And I could add a lace bolero or a sash to it to dress it up a little more…

I don’t know what to do now!!! Go with the frills and sequins that only a wedding dress can provide, or stay true to my style and my gut with the no-frills beauty?

Did you have a hard time deciding between two gowns? How did you make your decision?

Hmmm, I think they both look wonderful…but…I like the original dress you had just a tad more. But, I’m a ballgown/poof type of girl, so you have to take that into account. ;)

I love the new dress…very chic and elegant! If you are looking to dress it up a little, you could also do a sparkly hair clip or feather. That would look very old-hollywood. A sash would be fabulous with the drop skirt too. Love it!

I have to admit I like the first dress more than the second :) It’s very gorgeous and beautiful, and it’s not too “foofy”.
I do like the second one as well, and I myself have more of a mermaid fitted dress and prefer that cut - it looks fabulous on you, but really it almost looks like you’re glowing in the first dress! so beautiful.

I LOVE dress #1. I think it is absolutely exquisite and looks fantastic on.

I am also a two dress bride and know you have to go with what makes you feel best. I feel as if many brides are pressured into picking a dress that may fit into the “style” or “theme” of their wedding. I was one of them. In the end I fell out of love with that dress (simple ballgown) and ended up selecting a dress that was completely different from the rest of our vision for the wedding but made me feel like the best bride-version-of-me I could possibly hope for and in the end I feel my “bridal glow” will be remembered (or even noticed) far longer than how much my dress “matched” the rest of our wedding. So go with which even dress makes you feel the best!

PS. If you are looking for a third dress I have your two dresses’ love child (simple ballgown) that is still for sale! (J/K) :)

Ummmm, can you wear both? You know one in the ceremony and the other to the reception?
I love both of them, so I just don’t want you to have to give one up ;-)

@Miss_Riley: Don’t tempt me!! haha Mr. HD might go bonkers if I buy another one!

@Mrs. French Bulldog: I started thinking about that as well. Will it be weird that the first one is white and second is ivory? Will anyone even notice that??

Also, I was considering have the second one made into a sweetheart neckline. Does that change anyone’s opinion??

I love the first dress. And my dress was even like your second… so naturally I would normally gravitate to that one… But the 1st one just looks amazing. End of story.

I think both dresses look great on you! But I like the simplicity and elegance of the second one better. You should go with whichever one you feel more comfortable in since they both look great!

I love both dresses on you, but I have to say when I saw the first one I *melted*. And I am not typically a very melt-able girl. I usually go for simple styles, but the first dress is so flattering and princessy (in a good way!) that I’d have to go with that one if I were you. But, you really do look gorgeous in both so you honestly can’t go wrong with whatever you decide.

I’m with the majority here–I think that first one is simply beautiful on you! While it does have a larger skirt than the second one, it just looks fantastic! The second one, I think Frenchie had a good idea, wear it at the reception? I think a sweetheart would realy give it more character too. But they both look good on you, but personally, I think the first one is so bridal!!

Both are so beautiful! If you don’t want to wear them both - I’d vote for the second, but I prefer simplier dresses in general.

Second dress! Of course, I’m just not the ballgown type, but I also think the second one shows off your great figure much better (especially once altered, like in your last pic). And its simple elegance is timeless — great find!
