Friendors

April 16th, 2010 @ 2:25 pm by Mrs. Argyle

You know, vendors that are friends?

The funny thing is, I was not friends with any of these peeps until AFTER I booked them. I have a serious love affair with my vendors. And, I love to stay up-to-date on their lives. So, for all obvious reasons, I am friends with all of them on Facebook.

So, what prompted this bond? I love making new friends. I also love good people. And, I love going out to eat!

Our photographer? She (as in Lisa Hessel) is an absolute doll. And, while I don’t share the same love of the TV show Lost as she does (please don’t hate me), we DO share the same love for TV. As in, we LOVE it (you can refer to her recent blog post for proof). Not to mention that she is an honestly good and down-to-earth person, who has a huge sweet tooth (like I do).

Our photobooth company?

Well, it’s a husband and wife team, and the wife (Cherie) is a serious sweetheart. She sends me fun bits of inspiration, and she reminded me that our venue has this awesome blown glass chandelier. In red.

Have any of you made friends with some of your vendors?

I am FB friends with our photographer. He a super fun guy but it’s been 3 wks since our wedding and I still haven’t seen our pictures. This may be normal but of course I’m ridiculously anxious! Every time I see a FB status of something other than “____ is editing,” I want to comment with, “Get to work on our pictures!!!!” HA.

I’ve become increasingly friendly with my photog and videographer…and my wedding planner is practically my psychotherapist (planning from 600+ miles away)!

I became instant friends with my wedding planner. Since I am planning an out of town wedding, I haven’t even had the chance to meet her yet! Yet through our e-mails and G chats we have become so close. I am so looking forward to actually meeting her!!

You are the exact opposite of me. I’m just not interested in having folks what worked for me be my friend on FB. In fact, one vendor, who I didn’t book, has twice tried to friend-me - I just found it creppy. While I have good rapport and will certainly keep their info to pass along, that’s about as far as I want to take that vendorship. :p

I totally made friends with my DOC, who rocked :) And had many other friendors, as well! I loved it because I think it made everyone a whole lot more invested in doing a top-notch job!

Our travel agent! I’ve never met her in person, she’s based out of PA but she’s been wonderful and she’s coming in for our home party! Can’t wait to meet her :)

Im friends with my photographer, DJ and wedding planner on FB. But the other day I felt kind of regretful being friends with my photographer - I’ve been noticing some of his not-so-nice comments on my feed - on how 2 of his brides are not his favorites (ie, not good-looking) or complaining about a couple who are too hesitant to book him. I don’t know if I’m just being too sensitive about it, but come on - that’s just mean.

@Farfromachildbride: That’s funny - I can imagine you’re anxious!

@tweds, @ktisthatbees: That’s a good thing, especially since you both are far away.

@thebriz: That makes sense. A lot of my vendors have been really open with me in wanting to grab coffee, etc. I haven’t done that with all of them, though.

@Mrs. Star: I absolutely agree with you!

@misstrevi: I can imagine that making you feel uncomfortable. I think I would be, too.

I love our catering rep! I’ll miss chatting with her when things are all said and done. “Friendor” is a great word, btw.

We became friends with our photographers, and I even worked with them again at my friends’ wedding the next year. We still keep in touch.

The photographer that took our e-pix is our friend now too! I haven’t spoken to our other vendors since booking them.
