Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

Even though you will not see these projects in our wedding recaps, I thought I should mention them because we did spend LOTS of time on them.

First: the lost project. Sometimes when prepping for your wedding you lose track of some of the details, especially if you do a ton of DIY. So the day after our wedding I found this in a bag:

Poodle Projects: the Lost Project and the Project That Was Never Finished : wedding diy san bernardino 13 flower-pomander2

[ A very cute purple pomander! ]

We packed it with our flowers and one of our friends transported them to the ranch. But at some point it got lost, so our flower girl only had her little basket.

Many bees have blogged about different pomanders, but I though I should still show off how this detail was special to me:

I had to make it twice, because the first time around I chose a Styrofoam ball that was WAY too big for our flower girl. The edging detail was carefully crafted by Groomsman Scott:

While Bridesmaid Katy cut strips of paper, he punched them with my favorite Martha punch! :)

They did such an awesome job with those!

I used half tissue paper and half napkin flowers and attached them to the ball.

I was so sad that we spent all that time making our pomander, only for it to be hidden away in a bag. :( But at least you all get to see it!

And then it’s on to the project we never finished:

Early on in our planning, one of the very first projects I wanted to DIY for our wedding was this amazing plastic bottle bottom chandelier:

Sadly I ran out of time and I had to focus on more important projects, so I ended up having more than 1,000 plastic flowers like these:

I have, clear, green and purple. I so wish I would have had one more week to finish these lovelies!! But on the bright side, I can always make some decor for my future craft room. smile08

Did you end up with any half finished projects, or did any of your projects get lost on the day of the wedding? What should I do with these two projects now that the wedding is over?

Aww, that sucks about the pomander. It as so cute! And I LOVE the plastic bottle flowers! Do you have any other friends/family getting married soon? You could make the chandelier for them as a gift.

Our flower dog was supposed to have two baskets hanging from his sides (carried just like his backpack) for the flower girls to throw the lavender bits from, but somehow the project never made it to his back on the day of the wedding. It’s ok. He still looked adorable.

I am really excited to see what you do with your bottle flowers!

Oh Poodle, I remember when you were drinking only from purple-colored water bottles! I thought that was so cute :)
I’m sorry that idea didn’t get to come to fruition!
Everything else looks spectacular, though ;)

The plastic flowers look great! They’ll be great craft-room decor, especially near a window.

Give the pomander to another bride (like a friend or a cousin) so you can still have the pride of it being a part of someone’s big day!

I found WB through googling for purple weddings and finding you blog, Mrs Poodle. The first post I read was the DIY plan for those plastic bottle bottoms! I’m not using them for a wedding DIY but my friend and I are going to use them in her daughters room!

I can’t wait until we get to see all of your recaps. Your wedding must have been wonderful! :)
