Greetings from The B-List!

April 18th, 2010 @ 10:00 am by Mrs. Penguin

Hello from our nation’s Capital! I had the privilege of joining the incredible and inspiring group of ladies known as the B-List for a weekend of all-things-bridal-blogging.

Kate Headley stopped by to give us all some insight on the wedding photography business and snapped some shots of us all in Alexandria, VA.

The conference was set up with brides in mind (obviously!) and lunch consisted of a shower-worthy box of local foods and goodies donated by Design Cuisine and tied together beautifully by Smock. The theme was “Somethings…” as in:

  • Old Dominion Virginia root beer
  • New cocktail napkins
  • A “b” borrowed sugar cookie
  • … and it was all boxed up in blue!

Check it out:

I’m a sucker for a boxed lunch. And something like this would be a great and convenient way to stylishly feed your shower attendees.

Mrs. Meatball raved about the potato chips. Mmmm chips. I’ll admit that I’m a weird food hoarder (for example, when I get a plate of nachos I eat all the naked chips so that I can save the chips with the most cheese for last… ridiculous because the cheese gets cold, but I’m totally mental). So the moment she said they were a “must-eat”, I stashed my chips away and can’t wait to eat them when I’m in a potato chip state of mind… hopefully I don’t hoard them forever. :)

Mr. Peng and I will be soaking in the sights today (this is my first time in DC) and I can’t wait to see what this city has to offer! If you have any sightseeing recommendations, I’d love your advice!

Omg, how fun! The box is so awesome. One of my best friends lives in Alexandria– I should have sent her to paparazzi-spy.

I’d recommend the Capitol Building Visitor’s Center (I think it’s open on weekends), the Library of Congress (so pretty, and right by the Capitol), the National Postal Museum (I lurved it, but I love stamps generally and am a huge geek) and the Holocaust Museum (very very sad though). Georgetown is a super cute neighborhood for dinner and shopping!

I recommend going to Georgetown and enjoy shopping, waterfront, and food at Sequoia (yummmy!!). I live in the DC area and there is so much to do and see it is ridiculous.

The Azaleas are blooming at the National Arboretum if you want to see something stunning and off the beaten path. :-) I just got home from there, and it was lovely.

AIR AND SPACE!!!! They have space ships you can walk in and under and all sorts of neat national memorabilia, and the cafeteria has the best view of the Capitol building. Though, if you want good museum food I’d check out the National Art Gallery, they have a nifty underground cafe with neat gift shops and tasty food (for a cafeteria).

Georgetown has a super duper Paper Source store :-)

Go visit Dupont Circle - they have a great night life for younger folks and tons of cute little shops and food places.

I would have told you to come see me singing at church this morning - NY Ave Presbyterian (right next to the White House) but I didn’t read your post on my iPhone until 10:55 am.

The Atlas Theatre is also putting on a really good Gilbert and Sullivan Mikado this weekend if you can catch some show tickets.
