Mrs. Lobster's Picture
Mrs. Lobster, Brooklyn Age and Occupation: 29, Finance Girl Fiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Finance Boy Engagement Date: July 25, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Stage 6 Steiner Studios About Me: I'm a New York-born, Virginia-bred girl who's found her way back to the big city. Mr. Lobster and I met in grad school and have been together ever since. I'm clueless about DIY but am an avid online shopper and love all things polka dots, stripes, and ruffles! When I'm not making wedding lists, you can find me looking for snacks, watching Gilmore Girls, or hanging out with Mr. Lobster and our new puppy Buddy! We are planning a fancy-pantsy Brooklyn wedding for a hot New York summer night which is sure to be a misadventure in the making.
About Mrs. Lobster

Why we “need” Save-the-Dates (read: because I want to and they’re pretty):

  • We’re *that* Friday wedding.
  • Our wedding is in peak vacation season.

And so we begin work on the Save the Dates. Initially, I was gung ho about making my own Save the Dates. I love squares and saw something similar in a wedding magazine:

Be There Or Be Square - Save the Dates : wedding brooklyn save the dates Mstd1 mstd1

My attempt

Not too shabby, right? Plus I looooove that I can say “Be there or be SQUARE”. HAHAHA. OMG. But then my San Francisco BFF’s husband asked if I wanted his expertise, his expertise being in graphic design and WEDDING INVITATIONS.

Ca-ching! Yes, please! I gave him 100% of my trust since he’s come up with great urban designs in his 4fifteen t-shirt line. Here’s what his genius created:

Tying the Knot. I love this one because it’s so elegant, clean, and classic. It has the formality of a wedding without being conservative, which Mr. Lobster and I are not.

B’lynn Bridge. Then, I opened up this beaut. My heart raced. Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!! It captured every feeling I want for our wedding that I couldn’t verbalize. Chic, modern, kinda cool, but with the right touch of fancy. And I love the simplicity of the black and white. Oh, and Mr. Lobster loved this one so much he said, “You should stick to finance and let 4fifteen do his thing.”

His designs blew away my squarey idea. Be there be square? Be gone.

Which save-the-date design do you like the most? Did you enlist a friend’s help with yours?

I actually really like the square one! It’s very simple and cute. Out of the other two, the Brooklyn Bridge one is great!

I love the Brooklyn Bridge one! Sorta similar to mine, which featured the Williamsburg bridge and Manhattan skyline! I enlisted my grandmother’s help with mine, since she is an artist. She graciously sketched 3 different versions of the bridge for me to choose from. I love having such a creative and talented grandmother to help me out!

I love the bridge! My fi’s cousin also helped us with our “passport” STDs and they were a huge it! I couldn’t get all that creative as she did!

Actually, I like your idea the best!

But, since we’re voting on your friend’s design - I like the Brooklyn Bridge STD. Super cute!
