Mrs. Dachshund's Picture
Mrs. Dachshund, Fresno, CA Age and Occupation: 24, Legal Office Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Computer Technician Engagement Date: April 18, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: Victorian Gardens of Two Sisters About Me: I’m a 24-year-old Californian bride-to-be who found love in the most unlikely of places - an online video game! I’m a farmer’s daughter living in rural Central California, but will always have a special place in my heart for the city. My future husband is a 27-year-old extraordinarily tall, exceptionally cute, and undoubtedly Canadian boy who was able to sweep me off my feet and take me for his bride. I love color, folksy songs that make me smile, interior design, kettle corn, my one-year-old puppy, Juno, and my fiance, of course! We’re planning a DIY garden wedding with a laundry-list of projects, all while dealing with the bureaucracy that is American Immigration!
About Mrs. Dachshund

Well, not completely. I don’t think Mr. Doxie could ever give up video games, and that’s okay. I enjoy them too. However, he did trade in a substantial amount of his games to Amazon.com for credit there. We had planned on doing this a few months ago. He was going to trade in everything that he no longer played, and buy the new games that he wanted. Well, we finally sent them in and he got the credit today. 34 games landed us just under $300.00. It’s a loss, yes, but not too bad if you consider they were just sitting on the shelf!

After a bit of light persuasion on my part, Mr. D agreed that it would be okay to see if Amazon sold anything we might need for the wedding. We still need a lot, and luckily Amazon sells everything! Our video game shelf is a little barer, but we definitely scored:

We finally got our rings!

The groomsmen got their ties:

I think these mint ties will go well with the bridesmaids’ dresses.

Mr Doxie got his tie:

Finding a red and aqua tie was hard! Hopefully we like this one when it arrives. He Gave Up His Video Games for Me! : wedding fresno rings Votives votives

And we got a butt-load of candles! 144 votives and a dozen pillar candles. We’ll need many more pillars, but I wanted to see the quality first.

Not too shabby! I am so appreciative that Mr. Doxie was willing to give up his beloved games to help pull our wedding together. Also, we get to cross a bunch of things off our list with no out of pocket costs. Score!

Did you and your FI do any “spring cleaning”, so to speak, in order to purchase things for your wedding?

P.S. My dress was delivered today! It’s currently sitting in my living room waiting for me to get home and open it. I’m so excited! Pictures will come soon. :)

Hi!
Could you describe what shade you think the mint tie is? Looks really soft and light? Thanks!

Wow, I actually had a very similar experience this week - weird! My FI sold his super fancy schmancy bike wheels (he’s into triathlons) on ebay and replaced them with cheaper ones…making enough $$ off the downgrade to purchase our wedding bands. It was a really sweet gesture and made it so we were able to get exactly what we wanted.

Will you post a “real” pic of your band when it comes in? It’s such a great deal, sometime I may consider! Thanks, and great finds!

That’s so cool! FI loves games, but the last time he sold his games/system it was to get a newer system. Haha, but we weren’t engaged yet so I was totally cool with that.

That’s so cool that you made a sacrifice to get your wedding bands! I’m sure it was just practical, but it’s so sweet and symbolic at the same time! And I love your red and aqua color combo!

We’re bartering for a lot that we need. He has a garage full of random parts along with things that we just don’t need anymore.
