Voila! Any questions?

P.S. Make sure your book isn’t too old or your cranes will crumble. I had to sub a much newer (but still french) Harry Potter for Fables to achieve crane-tastic results!

Any destruction of literature in your future? Any other bananas bridal ideas to save a dime out there?

I love this idea. I love that photo you have at the end with the baker’s twine too. Where is everyone buying that stuff?

I bought a giant “Complete Works of Shakespeare” for the sole purpose of making into a decoupaged card box. Except it was a craft fail. So I destroyed the lit for no good reason. Boo.

I also love the way the paper looks stacked with the twine.

maybe you can save the cover to do something like this:

Those turned out so great! I’ve done quite a few art projects using old books and I always feel so sad deconstructing them. I try to use random ones that aren’t too pretty or significant. It makes me feel a little better!

…and I thought I was destroying literature by getting this PhD (har har…I’ll be here all night).

I love all the french cranes and using old books is a great idea! I also had fun trying to read the old French… Something about knowing Jupiter and planets and our kind depending on things…maybe?

No destruction of literature, but I did destroy a copy of Handel’s Messiah to make paper cones out of sheet music. Oh, how my mother would cringe if she knew.

Love these! What a great idea! Mr. D and I started making cranes for our reception with origami paper from Michaels and I didn’t like how they were all different colors, I felt they were distracting. Wish we had thought of this though. Since then, we have nixed the cranes all together {sad face}.

@Sarah: Thanks for that fabulous tutorial! I don’t feel too bad b/c I didn’t love the cover of this book, but now I will have to find a vintage book I LOVE to do this! So awesome!
Tallulah says “woof” which I think means “thanks- I know I’m cute!”
