Our motto is: the less people, the better! (I’m kidding.)
About Mrs. Pug

I’m Magnanimous

April 20th, 2010 @ 5:11 pm by Mrs. Pug

Before I share pics from the wedding, I wanted to go back and share some details that I didn’t get to blog about before the wedding.

While out-of-town (OOT) guest bags are totally unnecessary, it’s a nice surprise for guests to receive this little goodie bag of welcome treats. It’s yet one more unnecessary wedding detail to which I was fully committed. Because I am Pug the Magnanimous. Or because I was looking for ways to use up my time instead of doing real work.

Here’s what I chose for the bags:

Kettle Chips, New York Cheddar Flavor, 2 oz bag

A little nod to our current city. Mr. Pug thinks they’re gross, but what does he know. These were great because they take up space—this was key, because I kinda ran out of ideas/energy to fill these OOT bag suckers to the brim.

See’s Krispys

A nod to the Bay Area. Mr. Pug and I love See’s chocolate, and the Krispys have convenient individual wrapping. These are kind of pricey, so people only got 2 or 3 measly bits.

Source

My sister cooked up a massive batch of peanuts with Old Bay Seasoning (recipe was retooled by my sister to add tons more Old Bay), as a nod to my home state of Maryland. I salivate at the thought of just dunking a finger in a tin of Old Bay and licking it. Hehe, not that I do that—I mean who does that? Gross, not me.

Sarris Chocolate Covered Pretzel

A nod to Pittsburgh. Apparently Sarris Candies is a Pittsburgh institution—but I’m just relying on Mr. Pug for that information. I have not checked my source. Anyway, it was kind of like pitting Pittsburgh (ha!) Sarris against Bay Area See’s. As with the See’s, these were a little pricey, so there was only one for you!

Chocolate Granola

We included granola for no particular reason except that granola is good to snack on and my sister makes a mean, mean chocolate granola. She made about 5 other types before settling on this one. I love her.

Do you like OOT bags? What have been some of your favorite items (either ones given or received)?

I love your OOT bag. I’m from MD and my FI is from Pittsburgh. Therefore ours will contain Crab Chips, a sample of Old Bay, some sort of Sarris goodie, and my favorite, an Eat n Park Smiley Face cookie (in wedding colors of course)

Yum! Sarris and See’s in one bag! (My family is from Pittsburgh, so Sarris is familiar… and we have family in Cali… so See’s is a favorite Christmas package!

@mnmgirl08: how funny that we share the same hometowns (and very similar OOT bags)! and oh my gosh, the eat n park cookie is perfect!
@Missbliss: oh good, another pittsburgh native to confirm the sarris reputation! and we consider the see’s catalogue as required reading.

Good stuff!! I’m just going to Costco and getting chips/candys with zero reference to any geographical area…

For ours I’m thinking about including some huckleberry treats and probably a gift certificate for a place called Paul Bunyan’s. It’s the best burger place I’ve ever been to…*drool*. Although, your stuff sounds really good and if we were over there I’d totally love your bags.

I love OOT bags. We’re doing something similar, and including our favorite treats from the cities we’ve lived in. New York cheddar chips is a great idea. :)

Your oot bags are great!

PS - my favorite way to enjoy Old Bay is on popcorn. I pop my own, add butter and lots and lots of Old Bay. You could probably get the same results using a plainer microwaved popcorn and just Old Bay. Yum!

I loved getting an out of town bag when we went to a wedding. It was great to have something to snack on before the wedding.
