Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Law Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force Pilot Engagement Date: February 21, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery About Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!

Make Me Up Before You Go Go

April 20th, 2010 @ 1:31 pm by Mrs. Jellyfish

I mentioned in my post on MUAs that after much searching, I finally found a reasonably-priced makeup artist. Her name is Vy of Exquisite Faces and she’s based in Fremont, pretty close to our wedding venue. Well, I booked a trial with her and here are the results!

It’s definitely more makeup than I’m used to wearing, but according to Mr. Jelly and his mom, it still looks pretty natural in person. They didn’t even realize the mile-long eyelashes were fake! To be honest, I was a little disappointed in the airbrush makeup she used – you can still see the blemish on my forehead! I really liked the hair, though I am debating having a side-part one the wedding day. I’d also probably do the hair a little higher up on the actual wedding day, and have a flower on the side.

What do you think? Should I change anything?

Oh my… you look absolutely lovely! If you changed nothing at all, it wouldn’t be a bad decision. The changes you mentioned are worth playing with though. If you’re use to wearing a part, it might make you feel more you on the day of. That’s what I ended up deciding on. Your make-up looks great in these pictures though.

You look great and I love your hair!! My airbrush makeup trial run resulted in visible blemish marks too! I wonder if that’s just how it is????

All I can say is WOW! Love everything. Just have her apply actual concealer to larger blemishes. As for the hair, I love it but am worried about you dancing. It seems so fragile. How did it hold up throughout the day (and how do you think it’ll hold up with dancing)

I like your side-part idea - I think that the kind of puffy, brushed-back front looks a little bit matronly, and you’re too young and pretty to look matronly!

That said, the hair looks AMAZING from the side and the back, and I love the makeup!

You look absolutely beautiful! I love the back of your updo- it looks very polished. Your makeup is also gorgeous- your eyes are beautiful.

As for changes…I would definitaly go for a side part- it would soften the look just a tiny bit and frame your lovely face that much better. I would also place de ‘do a little bit higher on the back of your head. But, otherwise…simply divine.

First I have to say that your post title is the best one ever. Hahaha.
Next, I wouldn’t change a thing on the makeup. My first reaction was seriously, “Wow, she looks GORGEOUS! Can my makeup look like that?”

You look great! I also like the side part idea. You can have a side part and still keep the volume on top too. I just had a second hair trial yesterday and that is what my stylist did, and I thought it looked really good.

Stunning!
I’d vote for the side part too, but the back of the hair is so gorgeous and your hair just shines, I’m jealous!

I wouldn’t change a thing…you look stunning! I wish I had known about her before my wedding because her prices are very reasonable and she really does great work.
