The Last Date-a-versary

The Last Date-a-versary : wedding anniversary san diego 18 IMG_3026

The wonderful thing about having a long engagement (22 months to be exact) is that you get the chance to celebrate a couple more date-a-versaries before the wedding anniversaries become real. Mr. HW and I had dinner and gifting plans after work to celebrate our 5 years together. But I came to my desk to find these!!!

Love and spring had sprung in my concrete, windowless, crap of an office. Not to mention the mess of papers that is EVERYWHERE! Aw yes, ladies, he’s a keeper and you can’t have him. ;)

We celebrated our 5 year dating anniversary and reflected on how amazing and fast the time has flown over a fantastic meal at Topolobompo (Rick Bayless is a freaking genius y’all).

The Last Date-a-versary : wedding anniversary san diego 25 IMG_3031

When we got home, we read our gifts to one another. We each wrote a draft of our wedding vows. Oh hive, this was the best gift I’ve ever gotten. It felt so good to hear him say these words and to see his face get all red and full of emotion like it did when he proposed! Damn, I love that man.

I promised Mr. Hot Wings I wouldn’t share them with the hive because they’re really personal and I know some of our wedding guests are reading my posts. But here’s one line to tease you with…

Ms. Hot Wings: Without hesitation and absolute and unwavering belief in our love, Mr. Hot Wings, today and every day, I choose you to be my husband…

Mr. Hot Wings: From this day forward, your hopes are my hopes and your dreams are my dreams…

That’s all you get.

Are you and your fiancé doing any wedding-related gifting before the wedding?

Awww - if that’s just a tiny excerpt of your vows to each other, I can only imagine how meaningful it is to hear the whole thing!

Our engagement is 22 months too, and we just had our last dating anniversary before we’re married in January. It feels even more wonderful to celebrate those things when you’re engaged! Beautiful flowers, and I’m glad you two had such a special time!

Those vows…goosebumps! Since we’ve been engaged for about 100 years, Mr. FF and I have had a few date-a-versaries, and even an engage-a-versary thrown in for good measure.

Aw… what a tease!! I wanna read all your vows, but totally understand the personal aspect of it. I’m still deciding if we should personally write them or collaborate on previous vows… And I’m with Mrs. Pug - drop a hint hint to my FH as well! I’ve never received flowers from the mister!

SO SWEET! We are going to be engaged for 21 months and I think the date-a-versary is one of the best parts of having such a long engagement (and constantly fielding “wow, why is your engagement so long?!” questions).
