To Top It All Off

April 20th, 2010 @ 6:25 pm by Mrs. Turtle

I’m planning on carrying on the 1980s tradition of wearing a ginormous wedding hat. Check out this sweet masterpiece of lace and tulle I picked up:

JUUUUST KIDDING!! (I do like to play dress up in antique stores though, in case you’re wondering.)

But seriously now, this is my veil:

It doesn’t have much of a story to go along with it. The only type of veil I’ve ever considered wearing is a birdcage veil. I feel like it fits me. This is the first one I tried on. It’s called “Natasha” and the designer is Jennifer Leigh. It has tiny rhinestones and pearls on it. I immediately loved it. The end.

So, what do you think? Should I have stuck with the lace hat? ;) Who else is all about jumping on the birdcage bandwagon?

My aunts all shared a giant 80’s bridal hat - hilarious! I have a feeling it’ll be making an appearance at my shower :-)

I think you should have stuck with the hat only if you were to wear it with the price tag still attached. It adds a certain something. ;-)

The lace hat is pretty awesome, but I agree that the birdcage looks best. :)

@Miss Snow: @bohemianbailie: Totally not an option! I took this picture about a year ago, so I’m sure some lucky girl has since snatched that beauty right up! Plus, it’s not really my style… ;)

I’m so on the birdcage wagon but the one I tried on kept trying to bite me in the eye. =( And the maids veto’d the veil for the one I already have that my step sis was running around the store wearing.

Birdcage veils are so awesome - but I’m torn between a mantilla and a birdcage…yours looks amazing! I was seriously hoping it was a joke about the hat…got concerned there for a moment!

I totally got an ginormous hat–not an 80s one, more like a 40s one–but realized I didn’t have the…oomph to pull it off. $15 Target veil to the rescue.
