Mrs. Lobster, Brooklyn Age and Occupation: 29, Finance Girl Fiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Finance Boy Engagement Date: July 25, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Stage 6 Steiner Studios About Me: I'm a New York-born, Virginia-bred girl who's found her way back to the big city. Mr. Lobster and I met in grad school and have been together ever since. I'm clueless about DIY but am an avid online shopper and love all things polka dots, stripes, and ruffles! When I'm not making wedding lists, you can find me looking for snacks, watching Gilmore Girls, or hanging out with Mr. Lobster and our new puppy Buddy! We are planning a fancy-pantsy Brooklyn wedding for a hot New York summer night which is sure to be a misadventure in the making.
About Mrs. Lobster

Now that we’ve decided on our Save-the-Date design, it’s time to figure out all those envelope details: liners and how to address the envelopes. (Today we’ll just look at liners because the address thing is another  whoooole debate.)

Envelope Liner Inspiration.
Paper Source has some amazing pre-cut envelope liners for certain sizes (A7 being most popular and also most often sold out). They also have a wide array of fine paper that you can buy and DIY liners in the same patterns.

I also loved Smock Paper’s liners. Smock Paper is a letterpress print shop in Syracuse, New York that prints on bamboo (read: eco-friendly) paper. They also sell gift wrap and cute letterpress stationery.

French Paper also had some cool paper but I wasn’t sure if it would be too thick at 70 lb stock since I couldn’t feel them in person. Here are some of the funnier ones I saw.

Repeat Engagement

Of course, French Paper mostly had non-funny pretty ones:

And of course, Weddingbee had lots of inspiration from real life brides:

And the favorites:

Since I wasn’t tied to any theme color for the Save-the-Dates, it left it pretty open. I wanted a bold graphic print that would pop out against the black and white Save the Dates.

Smock Paper has cute reversible gift wrap. So, you get two designs for the price of one! But it’d be so hard to choose which you want to use the most:

Where did you go for paper inspiration? Which do you think matches our Save the Dates best?

so hard to choose! i kinda lean towards the calliope gift wrap because of the 2-in-1 and i think both patterns would look great with your invite, but really you can’t go wrong with any of them!

I vote for something with a bolder color. I think that red would be awesome.

I want to do envelope liners too but it seems to be such a time consuming task! I love all those designs above, but I think something bold will really pop against the black and white!

I like the Yuzen blue and white swirls! But they’re all pretty so I’m sure whichever you end up with will look great!

I love that you’re taking “baby step DIY”. I did some embossing on our holiday cards this year and totally felt like a pro.
I’m with @Miss Trail Mix: The Yuzen is great and reflects the city/industrial vibe.

I think the Yuzen pool Gold waves would be great to go with the bridge on your STD! The blue with the white swirls also have a “water” feeling that goes well with bridges, IMO.

For my STD liners, I used origami that I trimmed down to size. For my invitations, I bought different Yuzen paper from Paper Source and cut them to size by hand. =) (We had square flaps for our envelopes, so I didn’t have much choice.)

I saw some DIY Fabric Envelope Liners over here:

super easy, less expensive, and you can get lots and lots of different patterns easily :)

Such a hard choice! I ended up finding mine at Target - I just bought some cute wrapping paper! I really like the yellow one!

If you used the reversable gift wrap, you could go with one side for your STD envelopes and the other for your invite envelopes. That way they’re different, but coordinate.

@Mrs. Pug: @kbp2009: @amanda.lynn: @tea: the wrapping paper does provide a lot of options, to use either side and / or 2 kinds of wrapping paper!
@Miss Seashell: LOL. I’m not crafty so this was a big step for me (but baby step for the DIY goddess bees out there).

@Miss Sewing: the yuzen paper does have a very good feel to it. almost like fabric, don’t you think?
@ocam_caro: that is so interesting! I never would have thought to create liners from fabric patterns
@ktbrady: maybe you can start experimenting with some holiday or birthday cards :) it is quite easy and makes any envelope special
