Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

My first idea for the sign on the main road to the ranch was kind of different from what we ended up doing. The idea was to have us holding balloons so our guests could see the road from far away, and then including little poodle-shaped balloons directing guests where to go from there.

I ended up liking what we came up with better than my original idea! smile010

Poodle Projects: Welcoming Our Guests : wedding decor san bernardino Cartel11 cartel1

For this project I had help all the way from Switzerland from my favorite cousin, Hector! He wanted to help me in some way, so I asked him to draw Mr. Poodle and me for our Save the Dates, but due to bad timing we ended up not being able to use the sketch and instead just included a picture of our legal ceremony.

Anyways, he started the drawing and showed it to me on via webcam. Here’s a screenshot of him showing me the first stage of the sketch:

Then he sent me the file when it was almost done. I thought I could use it for the sign; I just needed to change up my arm to hold the balloons! So I drew it on a BIG piece of plywood (because I wanted them to be life-sized).

After that, my FIL cut the edges for me and I started painting:

Since the jigsaw left stains on the white plywood, I re-painted all of it:

Then I started painting! :)

This was a fairly easy project and I TOTALLY loved the final result. My cousin did such an awesome job with our faces; I think Mr. Poodle looks SO MUCH like himself! <3

And here you can see it on the trial run!

At first I was kind of afraid the project was going to be too time consuming, because I finished it only a few days before the wedding, but it end up being a lot more simple and less time-consuming than I expected.

How are you directing guests to your wedding ceremony or reception site?
