Postage for Pet Lovers

April 23rd, 2010 @ 3:31 pm by Mrs. Penguin

I know there’s a ton of discussion on postage here on the ’Bee! I was so paranoid about the constant rise of postage costs that for our RSVP return envelopes I went with the simple “Forever” bell stamps. My paranoia trumped my desire for coordinating stamps.

So, if you’re in the mindset that “stamps are just stamps” like I was, maybe you’ll consider these for your wedding. :) I just heard about a new set of stamps coming out on April 30th, and they make my pet-loving heart melt. The “Adopt a Shelter Pet” 44-cent stamp arrives soon (currently available for pre-order—I just pre-ordered myself 160 stamps!).Postage for Pet Lovers : wedding berkeley postage Stamps stamps

In celebration of the stamps, the Postal Service, together with Ellen DeGeneres and Halo: Purely for Pets, is donating 1 million meals to shelter pets (ONE MILLION!) around the country.

Check out more details on the campaign here and the rescue pets featured on the stamps here. If you can’t find stamps that match your invites, at least you can have these happy pet faces smiling at your guests! :)

Am I the only one that cries EVERY TIME a shelter pets/rescue pets/SPCA commercial comes on?

Pengy - you’re not the only one. Something about that Sarah McLachlan song. Lol. Those pet stamps are way too cute.

Looks like the USPS is slowly improving their stamp collection - I’m still holding out for the most amazing wedding stamp ever! haha!

I wanted to get these, but sadly our invitations were sent before they came out. I’m planning on stocking up, too!

Dude - I’m already planning on using those stamps for our invites, and as a veterinarian who used to work at a shelter, I totally consider them Wedding Appropriate :)

My orange kitty looks just like that! These are awesome. Too bad I already bought forever stamps back when they were .42!

@Mrs. Penguin: I love that pup too! He’s the cutest.

I definitely cry during those commercials. Heck, I cry even if I HEAR about an animal being hurt. I can’t stand it. I just ordered a bunch of these stamps too, and we’ll use them on our thank you cards!

OMG, the one with Sarah is just too much - I have to change the channel. I’m disappointed the Supreme Court lifted the ban on the sale of cruelty videos. You’ve just got to be one messed up person to mistreat an animal - period.

Ahhh! Wish these had been out for our invitations - I’ve volunteered at our local SPCA for 3 years now, these would have been perfect! Too cute.

i saw an advertisement for these when buying stamps for my shower thank you notes last week! i would LOVE to use them but my invites must go out this weekend, a few days too soon boo! I’m going to use the love stamps, the colors go well with mine. if the post office doesnt have enough for what i need, i will also get the wedding ring design. i feel like its a bit cheesy but oh well, it’ll look nice and i can’t be bothered to get super picky with the stamps. but i still want them to look sorta coordinated ha

We are donating to shelter pups in lieu of favors, our lab will be our ringbearer, and I really wanted the use the Adopt a Shelter Pet stamps on our invitations!! Unfortunately, that would have meant waiting to send the invites until April 30th…and our RSVP by date is May 1st. Darn! I’m consoling myself with using the stamps on all of our Thank You Cards!

When is your wedding? I search on google and USPS announced they will not increase postage rates in 2010. I don’t have the link offhand but if you google it you should find it.
