What to Do with These?

April 26th, 2010 @ 3:15 pm by Mrs. Hot Dog

A while ago I was mindlessly wandering through Hobby Lobby, as I’ve taken to doing quite often, and found the Valentine’s Day leftovers on a clearance table. Among the red and pink doilies, I found these:

Two ceramic heart-shaped dishes and two wooden heart frames. The second photo is from the back, with the frame backing in. The peg is to make is stand upright. The last picture is without the white backing.

So, I have NO idea what to do with these! I already have ring pillows (post forthcoming), so it would be silly to make the ceramic bowls into ring dishes. I was thinking about using the frames to mark our seats at the reception. But I don’t know how to execute that. I could stand them up on the table, hang them from the chairs… the possibilities are endless!

So, hive, what would YOU do with these little gems?

I’m a fan of hanging them off the back of the chairs - it would make for some great pictures!

Do you need a “Sign our guestbook” or bathroom basket sign? I think the heart dish would make a cute soap dish for the restroom—fill it with rose petal soaps maybe? You could also put sugar cubes in them for your beverage station or put mints or nuts in them and leave it on the bar?

After Valentine’s Day, I bought 12 ceramic heart dishes from my work that were on sale 50% off plus my additional 15% discount. I got all dishes for $0.39 and now I don’t know what to do with them either! I’m thinking condiment bowls…

I am with Miss Hamster! Use the backings as your “bride” and “groom” chair placers! I’d either paint them white or your wedding colors. As for the dishes, you could use them on your head table and put votives in them…possibly?

If you want to use them to mark your seats, just write “Mr.” and “Mrs.” in your prettiest handwriting and slip them in, and just set them up as it they were placecards.

I would collage the plain brown frame with pretty scrapbook paper and then use clear plastic over the heart area and put the word bride/groom. Then hang them from the back of the chairs.

You could convert the dishes into ring bowls for the ceremony? Or place mints in them and scatter them around the cocktail hour or on dinner tables?

Hanging from your chairs with “Mr.” & “Mrs.” in them would be cute. Just decorate or paint them in your reception colors!

Seat markers like this couple did…I knew I saw it somewhere recently and had to find it.

They can be your ring bowls for after the wedding and the frame for Mr. & Mrs. Signs at the reception?

I think that you and him should take pictures of each other turned to the side and making a kissy face turned to the side. Then put the pictures in the frames and hang them from your chairs at the reception so it looks like you are kissing each other!

I love all the ideas! Maybe your flower girl/ring bearer could carry them with petals/your rings down the aisle?
