Mrs. Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
About Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So this feels a little backward starting with the honeymoon, but I’ll give it a go.

After we partied with our wedding peeps until 3 AM on Saturday night (momma Fro Yo even made it to the end!), we finally made it to our fabulous suite at the Stoneleigh hotel.

I hadn’t been able to eat all day long, or really been able to eat much for days, but luckily our wedding coordinator, Lisa, packed up some food for us. We tore into that delicious food before crashing that night. There is nothing like ending the wedding diet on your actual wedding day. :)

The next day we met up with some friends, rehashed stories from the wedding while laughing far too loudly, and eventually we drove home to Austin just in time to re-pack, get a couple of hours of sleep, and catch our flight for our honeymoon.

I woke up Monday morning super excited about our trip to Mexico!! Now, let me tell you girls that are planning honeymoons something. I thought for SURE we were going to be bumped up to first class and congratulated over and over because we were on our honeymoon. Well, it’s time to burst the bubble… there were at least 7 other couples on our flight doing the exact same thing. Some were discrete about it like us and just sort of casually mentioned the honeymoon, while others were a little more forward and wore veils and t-shirts indicating their shiny new marriage. Whatever the method, it didn’t work. We were all cruising in coach on our way to Mexico.

After realizing that our ploy to get bumped to first class wouldn’t work, I decided to read magazines to pass the time before boarding:

Mr. Fro Yo chose to sleep to pass the time:

Once we arrived in Mexico, we took a bus to our hotel and walked into this:

Swoon!

Then, we made it up to our room, and ran out to the balcony to check out the view:

We threw on our bathing suits and some sunscreen and were ready to go:

After spending some quality time at the beach and the pool we decided to get ready for dinner.

And ate some yummy sushi:

After dinner we enjoyed some nightly entertainment and cocktails:

After our big first day, we decided to get some sleep and get ready for the rest of the week. We didn’t know that the rest of the week would have snorkeling, topless 60 year olds, barracudas, Jimmy Buffett, new friends, and sunburns in store for us. :)

OMG we totally saw topless 60 year olds on our honeymoon in Maui too. It was sick because her companion was taking a million pictures of her like she was some model. And this was a family beach!

At this moment of mired-in-wedding-junk and freezing b/c the weather decided to dip back into the 50s, I am so excited to read about your glorious Mexican honeymoon.

I also hope I can stay up until 3AM on our wedding day!

The sushi looks so yummy! It’s a shame you weren’t able to be bumped up to first class. =( My future hubs got bumped up and given access to the first class lounge on a layover when he wore his army uniform while coming home for Easter in 09.

@farmersdaughter, @Miss Hot Dog: The hotel is called Dreams Riveria Cancun http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drerc/ We seriously loved it!!
@amariem25: HA! What’s funny is there was actually a guy taking pictures of them like they WERE models, and it wasn’t a spouse. :)
@Miss Snow: It was all adrenaline!
@labrat: That makes me happy, he definitely deserved first class!

We are planning to do the whole ‘OMG we are on our honeymoon please bump us up to first class’ bit too… but thanks for the reality check! lol. I knew it wouldn’t be that easy… we are headed to MAUI for our honeymoon, which probably means 5x as many honeymooners… darn it!

Mexico looks beautiful! Congratulations MRS!!!!

Yep, we were pretty casual about trying to ask to be bumped to first class, then when nobody got the hint, we flat out asked. None of it worked :( I think its a Honeymoon Urban Myth! LOL!

So fun!

We learned Aruba in September means the honeymoon express. I looked around at a sea of shiny rings and French manicures on our flight, lol. We did have one girl in a veil, and let me tell you, she looked rediculous! At one point in the flight, she complained that the veil/tiara combo she was sporting was hurting her head. Her husband told her to just take it off, and she was furious he would even suggest it. Hee.
