Hi bees! Remember me?! After six months of marriage I’m finally back on the blogging horse and hope you’re still looking forward to some sunny recaps! It’s hard to believe Mr. Sunbeam and I have already hit our six month mark. I feel like the wedding was just yesterday and still think about squeezing back into my wedding dress now and then. Of course that would probably mean I’d have to admit I’ve packed on a few post-bridal pounds… so I’ll leave it on the hanger and admire it from a distance!

Like many brides, I had heard about the post wedding blues many people feel after their wedding. Even my husband’s boss was warning Mr. Sunbeam it might happen to me because I was so into our wedding! Thankfully, it didn’t happen to me. The first three months after the wedding were a time of relaxation, baking, and cleaning up all the wedding aftermath. Mr. Sunbeam was refreshed from our honeymoon and back into full swing at work, relieved there was no more planning to be done!

Of course I had Weddingbee to keep my wedding alive through my recap posts and I was busy making albums for myself and my mother. But when the holidays rolled around, I dropped the ball! After dealing with whose family gets us when over the holidays, I got back into a busy schedule by resuming grad school, helping my friend plan her wedding in June, and playing hostess for visitors.

Oh yes, and I broke my ankle the week after Valentine’s day. It was a sad indoor rock climbing accident, but there’s nothing like leaning on your new husband when you can’t get around OR carry anything from point A to B for two months! Being semi-helpless really brought us together; just when I thought it wasn’t possible to get any closer. It’s a confirmation that he is a keeper (and so are my friends who brought me Chinese takeout in the emergency room and stayed till 3 AM)!

Now that I’m blogging again I can’t help but wonder if a piece of me was resisting finishing up my posts. Even though I can claim being busy, I think knowing that sharing the details of our wedding would soon come to an end might have played a part in my delay.

Either way, I’ve finally caught my second wind! I hope you’ll welcome me back to the hive with open wings and arms. I’m healed, I’m settled back into work & school and I’m really excited to take you through the rest of our wedding and catch up on everything that’s going on in the hive!

Have any of you fell ill and had to lean on your husband or fiance? After experience it first-hand, I feel going through something like that is a real test of patience and commitment.

In case you want to catch up with the Sunbeams, here’s where we left off:

I had knee surgery 3 years ago that left me pretty much immobilized without breaking out the crutches and had to take certain pills every 4 hours for 2 days to help fight infection, prevent blood clots, reduce swelling, and ease the pain. My awesome (and poor) FI got up in the wee hours of the night/morning and every 4 hours as recommended by the doc to make me food (meds on an empty stomach is no bueno) and wake me up to take my medication. He was such a trooper for keeping on top of it all. :-)

Illness can do interesting things to relationships. I’m incredibly lucky to have a fiance that has been incredibly supportive and helpful to me this year after we learned that I had cancer. Through diagnosis, surgery, and radiation, he’s been there for me. Although it’s strengthened our relationship in many ways, it’d be disingenuous of me to say that it hasn’t had a negative impact too. I’ve had some fairly bad bouts of depression through this and that gets very hard on a partner. We’re now coming around the bend with my health though and our relationship is now back to being about “us” again. If nothing else, it’s a wonderful feeling to know that we can get through difficult times together!

Looking forward to the rest of the sunny recaps :)

Shortly after my fiance and I started dating I caught a terrible flu bug so violent that he wrapped me in blankets and carried me to the ER, stayed with me all night and proceeded to take care of me as sick and disgusting as I was (after only 3 months of dating!). I knew he was a keeper!
