A-Registerin’ We Will Go

April 28th, 2010 @ 8:45 am by Mrs. Octopus

Mr. Octopus and I were both really, really, really excited to get cracking on our wedding registry.

A-Registerin' We Will Go : wedding pittsburgh registry P103028

Picking a barware set is serious business.

A-Registerin' We Will Go : wedding pittsburgh registry P10302801

OH MAH GAH! How am I going to choose from all this dinnerware goodness?

He and I have lived together for a long time—we’re in the midst of the fourth year now, in fact—but our stuff is super grubby. Almost everything we own is left over from our college days, and most of it wasn’t even new when we got it, but dug out of our parents’ basements in order to furnish our crappy apartments. The worst offender? Oh, please don’t judge me when I tell you this, but we are still using the bright pink and purple bath towels that my mom helped me pick out at Bed Bath & Beyond to bring with me to my freshman year of undergrad. Which was eight years ago. So, yeah, you couldn’t get that scanner gun in our hands fast enough.

A-Registerin' We Will Go : wedding pittsburgh registry P103027

It took me a couple tries to figure out how to work it properly, though.

We decided to register at Macy’s and Target. We did the in-store thing at Macy’s, but built the Target registry completely online, which was really, really easy. In fact, both of our registries have been really easy to keep up with so far. My only complaint is that I get promotional spam from Macy’s in my e-mail inbox alllllll the tiiiiiime now.

Anyway, want to see some of the goodies I’m most excited about?

A-Registerin' We Will Go : wedding pittsburgh registry Espress

(Source)

AN ESPRESSO MACHINE! This is my number one really, really, really hoped-for gift. To me, having a latte in the morning is one of life’s small joys (and on the flip side, I am an angry crazy lady without one). I might bring this to bed with me and snuggle with it if someone gives it to us.

A-Registerin' We Will Go : wedding pittsburgh registry Towels

(Source)

Real grown-up fluffy bath towels in grown-up colors (we ordered pistachio and white).

A-Registerin' We Will Go : wedding pittsburgh registry Pastar

(Source)

Mr. O is a badass cook, and he bought a KitchenAid stand mixer on sale a few years ago (it was on sale because it’s a hideous deep orange color, but whatevs). His homemade pasta already blows my mind, and if he gets this pasta roller, he will step up his pasta-making game even further (and I will carbo-load like a fiend).

A-Registerin' We Will Go : wedding pittsburgh registry Lecreu

(Source)

Le Creuset French oven. See above, re: badass cook.

A-Registerin' We Will Go : wedding pittsburgh registry Comfort01

(Source)

A thick, warm, luxurious down comforter, because the one on our bed right now is the same one I’ve been using since high school. To be fair, down comforters are made to have a long life, but I’m pumped about upgrading.

We also requested a bunch of more basic (and less expensive!) things, of course, but I would be most giddy and thankful about receiving that particular espress—err, those things.

What’s your most hoped-for registry item?

This may sound a little on the ridiculous side, but we plan on registering for. . . gulp. . . a TV. Before you judge!! Some of our friends have mentioned going in together to buy us one. Let’s face it, my little 13 inch from high school just ain’t cutting it . . .you have to sit 10 inches away just to see the picture!!

We are also very excited about that espresso machine! We would never buy one for ourselves probably, but will be stoked to receive one for a gift.
I also spent lots of time with the towels at Macy’s!

I hope we get the luggage we registered for! As world travelers, we need that ten year warranty and the awesome spinner wheels - not to mention the convenient layflat fold out laptop pocket for speedy security checks!

Registering was awesome! Like you, we still had towels that I bought when I moved away to college. Uncool. I was so happy to upgrade! I think my favorite registry item was our Cuisinart coffee maker. I used to use the single cup-coffeemaker I got for my dorm room!

We registered for a Wii…fingers crossed. Also I registered for a cow shaped creamer holder, hoping for that too.
On one hand I’m all for registereing but on the other hand it’s a little anti-climactic isn’t it? You already know what you’re going to get.

I got the Keurig at my shower and it was my absolute favorite thing! I am a total spaz about coffee and have a new favorite every 5 minutes! Plus, I can make hubby decaf in a second!

@Ms. Smuttynose: We’re also registering for a Wii since we will not be able to afford actual nights out after we pay for the wedding . . .

My fiance and I are still in the middle of registering, but some of the things we are both excited or I am excited about include:

Grill set (we both like this! now we need a grill)

Table runners/napkins/placemats

Mixing bowls (down to itty bitty measuring bowls my fiance really digs! LOL)

A new tea kettle for use on the stove (YES!!!)

New candlestick holders (pewter), matching pewter pitcher, matching pewter candlebra for dining table, and CANDLES :-D

MAYBE a new t.v. if we register for one — cool!

Yes, that’s the “short” list. hahaha Congrats!

We’ve registered, but I’m not sure that people are picking gifts off of our registry! My first shower is Saturday and so far…like 4 things have been purchased. So, I guess we’ll see!

I’m a few years older than you, and my husband and I are still using the (purple and yellow) towels I got for my first year of undergrad :)
(We registered for new ones too, but it seems so wasteful to me to just get rid of the old ones, so now some of more frayed ones have been relegated to dog towels).

We got a down comforter from Macy’s too. I have to be honest though, it’s really hot, even here in MN. I can’t use it anymore now that the weather is warmer. Do you plan on using it all the time or just in the winter?

I’m so glad we aren’t the only ones with old towels. I honestly have no idea where half of them came from which makes me even more concerned…hmm, note to self - add more towels to registry.

One thing about Target… make sure your items are available in store - or most likely guests won’t purchase them!

I’m a coffee girl too. We may or may not have registered for a regular drip coffee maker, an espresso machine, and a french press. Obsession? Maybe so.
