I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. Beauty in the Dirty Feet

April 29th, 2010 @ 5:17 pm by Mrs. Hot Wings

As much as I love shoes, I have this weird thing for dirty feet. They just have this look like they’ve been somewhere, you know? No? Are you looking at me like I’m crazy? It’s OK. I know people have a wide ranging set of feelings of feet and dirt and sanitation in general. I mean really? They’re feet. Strange, yet cute, yet weird. I get it.

OK fine, photo inspiration then. Maybe I can show you why there just may be some potential for dirty feet to be a good thing.

Maybe not this super dirty. But this juxtaposition is kind of cool, don’t you think? Maybe more artsy than bridal, huh?

I’m thinking more like you kicked off your shoes and walked on the beach. Maybe I’m just crazy, but there’s something really beautiful to me about feet that have been traveled and worn.

One thing is for sure, it cuts down on shoe expenses, right? OK seriously now, it’s clear that this isn’t for everyone. You have a white dress that you’re trying to keep clean, new shoes that you’ve barely broken in, so why dirty up? I get it. But sometimes, I look at the pictures above and I see beauty in a somewhat different way.

So instead of talking about how some of us love feet and some of us can’t stand them, let’s have discussion about beautiful things you’ve noticed in photos that you don’t always see discussed.

I TOTALLY agree! I love bare feet pics! Never thought about it with regards to my wedding day…but what a great idea!

I also like the dirty, just stepped off a beach foot that kind of looks like a foot print. I’ve been really liking natural curls lately to the point that I’m planning to leave mine mostly down for the wedding. Previously, I thought they looked messy and needed to be pulled back in someway, straightened or otherwise tamed with products and tools but now there’s something about fluffy, natural curls that I see in photos and really like.

I love that third picture down…! its gross, but the artist is amazing! I saw her show when I was in San Fran @ the museum of modern art. It was my favorite discovery of that trip!

I like the pictures when the groom has his jacket off and sleeves rolled up so much more! I am planning on specifically telling my FI to take the jacket off and have all reception pictures like that. Especially because this way we will be able to see his tattoos which I find so sexy!

I love this collection — I have a soft soft for walking barefoot. It makes me happy… just like these photos.

This is going to sound so sadistic but I personally love seeing pictures of people crying at weddings. See, I sound like a psycho. But honestly, it’s just so touching to see someone moved to tears at seeing the joining of two people in marriage. It probably doesn’t help that I’m a bit of a crier…I may be a bit biased. :)

Super cute! I’m always jealous of people who LOVE going barefoot since for some reason I’m just more comfortable in socks. I think that’s way more weird than liking natural bare feet. You go with your bare feet!

I live in the country and LOVE being barefoot. I am only in shoes or socks when I have to be. I’m seriously considering being barefoot through the entire ceremony ( :

OMG..if my mom saw this she would tell all these people to go wash their feet or she will light a match under them! hahaha..seriously i LOVE being barefoot! But my mother would never let me..somehow she thinks you can get worms to crawl into your body! haha! I may just have to take some nature pictures in my gown sans shoes though!

Hahaha, one of my bridesmaids is like this about dirty feet, she’s always washing hers! But I’m a dirty country hippie so barefoot works for me ;)

i love dirty feet. sorry, i have a thing about well-traveled looking tootsies as well so i totally get it (plus i’m not really a fan of wearing shoes {like to look at them, just not have them on my feet} and avoid them if possible - so my feet are pretty frequently dirty - oops!) i really love untraditional portraits where rather than being “picture perfect” there is some broken-down element that I think brings a real touch of humanity (and beauty) to what could have other been a quite stark “perfect” shot.

I love the barefeet pictures on the beach, very flower child-like that I find beautiful! If i were doing a DW on a beach I would for sure take advantage of the sand in my toes and the free-ness of the day! So pretty!

I love love love barefeet photos and do plan on having a few taken of him in his boots and me barefoot. Thats just us. At the end of a day if my feet are dirty it just proves that it was a good day!
