About Mrs. Seashell

I haven’t even blogged about our registries, or the fact that I didn’t even want to register in the first place, but now let’s talk about how we just opened our fourth one. Yeah, I initially wanted zero. Maybe one for wedding china. Now we have four. (Technically 3, but I’ll get into that later.)

Welcome to Crazy Town, Population: Me : wedding providence registry Crazyt crazy+t

So, I was hoping to do the bulk of our registry at Bloomingdale’s. I love Bloomie’s, and I get these things in my head like, “EVERYONE registers at Macy’s, and I’m not everyone.” Similarly, I’m very bothered by the idea of having the same or similar wedding china to every couple who got married within 5 years of our wedding date because we all chose one of the cookie-cutter options available at the massive chain stores. Now, I realize Bloomie’s somewhat falls into this category, but I find that they offer a much greater variety of brands that are outside the conventional box. I’ll stop myself here… I see this turning into one of my “nothing is unique in America” rants.

Alas, back to our fourth registry. I was browsing around Sur La Table a few weeks ago and these beauties caught my eye:

(source)

Now, we already had Le Creuset on our registry at Bloomie’s, but it wasn’t in my beloved purple. The options looked more like this:

Welcome to Crazy Town, Population: Me : wedding providence registry Lecreus lecreus

(source)

We had registered for Le Creuset pieces in white. Then weeks later we swapped them for red, and then the dark blue. We just kept going back and fourth. I didn’t particularly like any of them. So, I reminded myself that they go in the oven, cook food, and that is their purpose. Relax.

But then I saw the purple ones and immediately fell in love. How can you not love the purple? Weeks later I went to Bloomie’s to see if they were carrying them and the saleswoman said she wasn’t aware that Le Creuset had even introduced purple. (Seriously?) So I figured I could wait a while, maybe they would carry them soon, and I could just swap out the blue for purple before my bridal shower(s).

Then I discovered this is not possible. Why, you ask? Because the purple is a Sur La Table exclusive! So, alas, we now have a fourth registry only for the purpose of receiving our purple Le Creuset pieces. See? I told you, Crazy Town.

Is there something your registry just won’t be complete without?

Wow, I hadn’t seen the purple either. LOVE! We’re registered for a few pieces in Caribbean blue. Like you, I am a huge fan of Bloomie’s. Sadly, we couldn’t register there though because literally none of our guests live near one. We registered at Macy’s, Pottery Barn, and Target to be convenient and so far we’ve been happy with our experiences at each of those stores!

I registered for one of those as well - the purple is just too fantastic! But you may be interested in the post I have going up about our registry secret…you can have your extra store items without adding the entire store! :)

The dinnerware and silverware that we registered for is at Anthropologie. I’m so nervous that we won’t get any dishes or forks because we registered for them there and maybe it won’t be as convenient as Macy’s or Target.

I think it’s funny because Bloomingdales is owned by Macys :) That purple is lovely though.

I’m falling in love with the purple, too!

You’re so not in crazy town. LeCreuset lasts FOREVER, you don’t want to pull it out every time you use it and regret the offensive color for the rest of your life.

Le Creuset is totally fab.. I have a dutch oven from them and it’s my favorite pot. Heavy as hell to move, but wonderful!
We’re only registering for our honeymoon. My mom thinks that’s tacky, but I’d really like to not be in debt because of a wonderful trip!

Aww, well I think it’s good you’re getting what you want, regardless of the method you have to employ to get there.

oh boy. I’ve got a LONG registry history (to go with our almost 2 year engagement): first got engaged and registered a Bloomie’s while visiting my parents, got back home and discovered that there is no Bloomie’s in CO and therefor it wasn’t practical to register there. Re registered for almost everything at Macy’s but got really annoyed with their emails and the registry lady at the mall and closed that registry. Re-registered for most of the same things at BB&B, but couldn’t find our flatware, so we went looking for a new pattern and registered for more stuff at Crate & Barrel (deleting duplicates along the way), then discovered the most awesomely overpriced crock pot and waffler at Williams-Sonoma and had to register there too. So now we have 3 active registries and 2 defunct ones (though we did get some random engagement gifts from the defunct ones before we deleted them — my family believes that presents and food say “I love you” louder than words).

@daisy326: You totally can! Right on their website. It’s so lovely. I just hope that some of my guests are awesome enough to buy us some stuff off our registry there. :)

Do what I did and register with MyRegistry.com - You can place all four of your registries on there and just redirect guests to one link rather than four (imagine keeping tabs on all those yikes). We registered there and uploaded our instore crate and barrel and williams sonoma registries. We added a third store on there - 7 hopes united but it was easier to keep on top of the registry that way!

FYI I read about this on theknot.com this morning if you’re interested: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/myregistry-com-universal-wishlist/id366525182?mt=8 Apparently this is a barcode scanning application for your phone so you can maintain an online registry but add items directly from instore wedding shopping experiences. brings up prices and everything! :)

Good luck with the registry maintenance and the general planning! We’re nearing our date and it’s getting hectic!

I actually have some news about the Le Creuset Purple. I registered at a boutique in a mid-size Texas town and they are going to carry the purple, BUT Le Creuset just brought it to market for the first time. As soon as the stores start getting their market shipments in the purple will be more readily available in most stores.

I ditto Miss Pretzel…We have an Amazon.com registry & LOVE their universal registry button that lets you list “exclusive” items like your purple Le Creuset pots & others all on the same registry…then directs your guests to the right website to purchase your gift…and Amazon keeps track for you! We’ve done this & we’re REALLY excited to see what people purchase.
