A Unique Spin on Birdies…

April 30th, 2010 @ 4:08 pm by Mrs. Penguin

I just got an invitation in the mail to my good friend Erin’s wedding and I noticed that the little birds she used on her invites were distinctly different.

Whatever could they mean?

Erin is from California and Mark is from Colorado, and the birds on their invites reflect each state’s official bird! For California, it’s the quail, and for Colorado, it’s the Lark Bunting. How cute!

The invitations were designed by SOSmithyDesign.

Is your state bird invitation-worthy?

Oh I love that! I’m from KS and our state bird is the Western Meadowlark .. they sound so pretty! Oddly enough, our “state insect” is the honeybee :)

That’s a cute personal touch. My state bird is the Rhode Island Red , a chicken to be exact…not exactly invitation worthy.

Awesome! To pay tribute to the two different states we are from, I was thinking of doing homeade snickerdoodle cookies in our OOT boxes. I would make “state cookies” using a cookie cutter that features the shape of the state I am from, the state my fiance is from, and the state we met in. Just in case (for the geographically challenged who look at those oddly shaped blobs of dough and go “huh!?”) I will probably write the states abbreviation in icing on each cookie….though Texas is pretty recognizable lol

Wooo Quail! That’s my last name (for the next 3 weeks at least). Love that idea, though! Such a cute take on the (somewhat overdone) bird theme :)

This is an awesome idea!
We were thinking of using our Provincial (Canada eh?) tree on our invite, instead of just the generic spring deciduous tree..
