Mrs. Veggie, Raglan, New Zealand/Scranton, PAAge and Occupation: 27, Director of Small Non-ProfitFiance's Age and Occupation: 42, PhD Student & FarmerEngagement Date: June 13, 2009Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: Indian Head Camp, Honesdale Pennsylvania
About Me: I am a tree-huggin' farmer turned enthusiastic wedding-planner. I live in a house truck and wear flip-flops more often than shoes. In my old life I was a high school Spanish teacher in love with a crazy guy who lived off-the grid on a farm in New Hampshire. But, we decided to mix things up a bit, quit our jobs and move to New Zealand. My southern hemisphere lifestyle involves growing veggies, teaching, running our small non-profit, and surfing. I love laughing, singing, playing, and the inspirational Mr. Veggie (of course!). For our wedding, I am committed to throwing a killer party that celebrates our values without breaking the bank. Look forward to an eco-thrifty summer-campy weekend-long extravaganza.
We’re quickly approaching the equinox, which for us means that it’s getting harder and harder to get out of bed and go for a surf in the chilly mornings, but for those of you on the other side of the world, it means spring is coming! Which means, I really need to start thinking about what kind of flowers I want. Pronto.
We still have 5 months until the wedding, so why so early? Because we are hoping that our talented friends and family will be able to grow us all of the flowers we need for the wedding, which means said flowers need to be planted. This also means that this veggie farmer needs to start thinking blooms.
Looking back I see that I went about this process in the complete wrong order. You see, I scoped out ideas, fell in love with certain flowers, and then figured out what they were called and when they were in season. This whole process involved some mild heartbreak when I found out that peonies and ranunculus (two of my faves) will definitely not be in bloom in the Eastern U.S. in August. I probably should’ve found a list of what is in bloom, then picked some off of that that I loved. Oh well… live and learn.
Here were the inspiration for my flower choices: (You knew I’d have an inspiration board or two for you.) Read more…
Mrs. Cheese, KnoxvilleAge and Occupation: 29, Engineering ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, CAD DesignerEngagement Date: July 31, 2008Wedding Date: May, 2009Blogging Since: October 16, 2008Venue: Our home and the two acres it sits onAbout Me: I’m an emotional girl who loves sentimental things, parenthetical asides, and trying to do things herself. I can cook, sew, am a whiz at planning, terrible at delegating, and totally in love with my fiancé (who will be my second husband but first love of the rest of my life). For our home/ garden/ DIY wedding, we’ll be moonlighting as interior designers, home improvers, and gardeners with the help of our fabulous friends and neighbors. We can’t wait to be married, and are learning how fun getting married can be.
With five days to go until your big day, I wanted to take a moment to share my love, give you whatever advice I can think of, and tell you what it’s like from this side of the aisle, so to speak.
Mrs. Dolphin, Gainesville, FLAge and Occupation: 24, Graduate Architecture StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Interactive Interface DeveloperEngagement Date: February 14, 2008Wedding Date: May 2010Venue: Plantation Bay Country ClubAbout Me: I’m currently a Graduate Student at the University of Florida studying Architecture. I enjoy playing Scrabble with my Fiance, rooting for the Florida Gators, making any drink that involves a blender, cleaning (yes... I’m crazy), design... GOOD design that is, the new Pepsi with natural sugar, taking pictures, discovering new places in the U.S., and obsessing over doing (and designing) everything myself for our upcoming wedding!
One of my very first posts ever was featuring our cute Knight and Gator cake toppers custom made by Bunnywithatoolbelt. Since being featured here on Weddingbee she has been asked several times to make college-themed cake toppers. Here is her latest creation for a FSU Seminole Groom and UF Gator Bride.
The Groom made these little renderings for Hilary of Bunnywithatoolbelt. These are really cute renderings, minus the last one. The Gator should really be chomping the Seminole considering how awesome our football team is… just throwing that out there. The Groom must be in denial.

About Me: When my best friend dragged me to a toga party in our freshmen year of college, I was not expecting to meet my future husband; but seven years later, here we are. I'm a crazy-organized planner at heart, and I am a great lover of random trivia, books, chocolate, blogs, new and exciting adventures, mockumentary-style television, and anything heavily flavored with bright orange fake cheese powder. We're planning a festive and fun mini-destination wedding in the place where we met: fabulous Pittsburgh, PA! I can't wait to marry the man I love!
I hate to exercise. I really wish I liked it, but I just don’t, and never, ever have. I am not naturally athletic at all—in fact, you might go so far as to say “super-clumsy and awkward”—and if I had the choice between exercising and sprawling on the couch with a blanket and a book or a movie, I would pick lounging every single time.
But I do exercise. I often struggle to keep it up regularly, but I do it. I exercise because I recognize that my body does feel a lot better when I’m staying active, and because it’s apparently not just an urban legend that regular exercise helps you manage your weight and stay toned. And now, with the wedding approaching, I’m trying really hard to exercise several times a week, so that I look and feel great when the day rolls around. So for all you grudging and reluctant exercisers, maybe it will help to see some of the things I, your kindred spirit, do to keep myself motivated, active, and fit.
Mrs. Lace, Pasadena, CAAge and Occupation: 29, Elementary school teacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, EngineerEngagement Date: September 6, 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Orange County Performing Arts CenterAbout Me: Born and raised in Southern California, my fiance and I are marrying in Orange County. We're planning a vintage wedding with a modern twist. I am an elementary school teacher by day and a wedding planner by night. I love reading, blogging, scrapbooking, trying out new DIY projects, buying awesome finds at incredible deals and spending time with friends and family. Trying new restaurants, traveling and shopping also top my hobby list. I'm anxious to share my wedding ideas and planning with the hive!
Well, maybe not do it myself, but have a family member do it HERself?
So, early on, Mr. Lace and I visited a nearby florist that came recommended by a friend. We brought photos of what we wanted and researched names of flowers we liked. However, once we got a quote of what we were hoping to have, we literally had to scrape our jaws off the floor. We weren’t ready to shell out over $2500 for flowers. They’re already stinking dead!! When the florist adjusted the centerpieces, bouquets and bouts for our budget, we didn’t like what he’d proposed for us.
We walked out of the shop pretty distraught. What were we going to do? To pay for a compromise of what we wanted and what we could afford, we’d have to cut back somewhere else in our budget. We decided to sit on it for awhile and revisit after we’d researched a few more florists.
Christmas rolled around and we hadn’t really had a chance to begin Yelping florists. Enter Mr. Lace’s aunt and uncle. Read more…
Mrs. Spaniel, Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 28, Law StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, PsychologistWedding Date: March 2010Venue: Calamigos RanchAbout Me: I'm a third-year law student trying to balance graduating with starting my career, keeping up a relationship, and, oh yeah, planning an Old World, multi-cultural, "mountain lodge" wedding for 180 guests! A South Asian Jewish girl getting ready to marry my handsome Catholic Dane, I'm hoping to blend our cultures in our wedding just a bit more gently than by providing samosas as appetizers and offering æbleskiver for dessert. (Although that would also be awesome.)
Though I am a sucker for all things chronological (am I? I don’t know, but it seemed like the right thing to say), I’m going to start at the end—with our honeymoon! I can’t wait to tell you all of the exciting wedding stories (and show you the beautiful pictures! I have seen the online gallery, and lo, it was good!), but while we Spaniels wait for the full disc, I thought I would regale you with the harrowing and heroic tale of…
Mrs. Seashell, Chicago, IL / Providence, RIAge and Occupation: 28, Marriage and Family TherapistFiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Electrical EngineerEngagement Date: September 3, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: The Glen Manor HouseAbout Me: Fonts and fashion, stationery and Sundays, photography and french toast... the beauty is in the details for this fun-loving Chicagoan who loves to plan plan plan! The soon-to-be hubs plays "Mr. Fix-It" in our new condo while I swoon over beautiful, personalized stationery and choose shades of aubergine for my bridesmaids' dresses... and thus begins my new fairy tale! Skirting to the East Coast for our September nuptials where my home state of Rhode Island awaits with fall foliage, I'm just a few dress fittings and bachelorette party away from saying "I Do" to a very happy ending!
Mr. Seashell and I talked about the future frequently—big picture things like goals, ambitions, things we hoped for in a family, and smaller details like things we liked and disliked about weddings, and travel preferences (window vs. aisle, carry-on vs. check-in). We were often on the same page, and shared a mutual excitement for what was to come. We always talked openly about our future, and we always said “when”, not “if”.
When he asked me one morning last May, “So, what’s next? A ring or a condo?” I tried to stay level-headed. With the first time homebuyer tax incentives, and the state of the housing market, I knew it was good timing to get serious about finding our first home. So I said, “Of course I want to say a ring, but I know the timing to buy a home is too good to pass up. If I choose ’condo’ will we still be on track for a wedding next fall?” Mr. Seashell said “yes,” and the condo search was on.
We purchased our condo on August 3, 2009. It was move-in ready, but we took on a number of home improvement projects. Night after night of work on our new home, Mr. Seashell suggested that we get dressed and go out on a “date”. To be honest, I thought it may be a “decoy date” to throw me off for a proposal at a later time. (Kind of like, “See? We go out and do nice things all the time! This isn’t suspicious…) Plus, I figured with all the money we’d spent on the condo, renovating, and buying new furniture, there was no way a ring was coming just yet. Read more…
Mrs. Parfait, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 26, TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Senior Online ConsultantEngagement Date: February 14, 2009Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: Signature EventsAbout Me: I have a soft spot for all things sweet and romantic. Desserts, love songs, sappy movies? Yes, yes, and ohh yes. My fiance and I enjoy singing to our dogs, creating crazy ice cream sundaes, and generally being lovey dovey cuddle bunnies. We also do socially acceptable things like dancing, throwing Frisbees, playing high stakes board games, and taking unreasonably fun road-trips. We're planning a Korean/Serbian wedding with plenty of playful, personal touches!
Our wedding was the most fun we’ve ever had in one day! It was incredible. We still can’t believe how beautiful and joyous it was!
I wanted to give a big “Thank You” hug to the hive! Thanks for everything. Your positivity, your amazing ideas, and your words of encouragement have meant so much to me. I’ve loved sharing our wedding planning process with you and can’t wait to share the amazing results!

Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San DiegoAge and Occupation: 28, ProfessorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, InstructorEngagement Date: December 20, 2008Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood RestaurantAbout Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
I didn’t really understand what all the hoopla was about with these little cookies. Mrs Perfume, Miss Turtle, and Miss Rainbow all discuss their loveliness. But wedding sites keep posting pictures and describing their yumminess. So, I started craving them. Crazy, right? In all my life, I think I’ve probably eaten one macaron at a Vegas buffet or some place like that. How do you crave something you haven’t really ever had? All those descriptions… hard outer, chewy on the inside, creamy center. I could taste it. And I had no idea what they tasted like.
I had had enough of this drooling and dreaming BS. It was time to get me some of these damn macarons. Read more…
Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/VermontAge and Occupation: 26, High School TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer EngineerEngagement Date: August 2008Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall ReceptionAbout Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
Remember that FMIL Pudding is making our wedding cake? Well, it turns out that having your cake baker live with you has some advantages. Every Sunday night for the last couple of months, FMIL P has whipped up a different flavor of cake for us to try. The problem? Each cake is better than the last, and we simply cannot make up our minds on the flavor.

Engagement Date: May 2, 2008Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Indiana Memorial UnionAbout Me: I'm an Indiana transplant living in DC with my fiance and our pretty kitty. I enjoy the color pink, I'm obsessed with the Dior New Look and tulle, and I heart my level 80 paladin. I'm a sucker for bad TV, literary theory, and cakes of all persuasion. I also happen to be marrying the cutest closet nerd around! It's all about Bloomington for us because it's where we met -- on the college paper. If there's a theme for our small summertime wedding, it's Dior meets Dorothy Draper on a lark in Bloomington; think poofy, plus graphic prints, bold colors, and a whole lot of prettiness.

My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
A long time ago, we decided we wanted to take dance lessons before the wedding so that we wouldn’t look like 7th graders awkwardly swaying at their first dance.
Awk-WARD.
Now, it’s less than 5 months to the wedding and I’m realizing we really need to get on this if it’s going to happen. The problem is that Mr. Jelly’s deploying at some point before the wedding, so if we start now, we will have a 2.5 month period where we won’t be able to practice together and we might forget a lot of what we learned. But starting the lessons when Mr. Jelly gets back seems cutting it too close. I guess this is just one of those times where I’m feeling sorry for myself for Mr. Jelly being gone so much. Read more…

Engagement Date: March 2009Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: Family Ranch outside Glenrock, WYAbout Me: I'm a city girl by birth and rural girl by choice. I'm ready to take on the world with a big heart and a big smile! I love all things crafty and DIY. I live in Cheyenne, WY with Mr. HD and our 2 fur babies, our dachshunds, Ollie and Mia. I love travel, adventure, Finding Nemo, '90s music, animals, and laughing. He is the cheese to my macaroni and together we spend more time watching movies than we probably should! I'm an old soul who is super duper excited to pull off our down home-rustic-chic-country wedding (on the cheap)!
This weekend, Mr. Hot Dog and I visited our venue, the ranch. I was really excited before, just picturing the landscape. But now that I’ve seen it again and heard all of my FFIL’s plans for the place, I can barely contain my glee!!! And of course, I took some pics for you all. I’m going to give you all a little “walk through” of the place so you can get a feel for it.

Mrs. Starfish, Boston/NewportAge and Occupation: 25, Operations AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, SalesEngagement Date: October 8, 2008Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: The Atlantic Beach ClubAbout Me: I'm a perfectionist who is a planner at heart. I don't do well with surprises. I love planning, crafting, Newport RI, family and friends, and most importantly, Mr. Starfish---all of which will be big components in our October wedding in our favorite little city by the sea.
When choosing our florist, I tried not to be super specific about every type of flower we use. I know it can help to be a little flexible, especially when you are on a budget.
I did my research and I learned that hydrangeas are in season in October, which is perfect because they are one of my favorite flowers. I also like the classic feel of roses, which happen to be in season, too. Other than the two main flowers, I didn’t want to be too picky with the types of flowers. Instead, I took the advice of Nancy Liu Chin of Nancy Liu Chin Designs. She recommends describing characteristics of what you want the flowers to look like. I told the final two florists we were deciding between that I like white, soft, romantic, and classic flowers. I then created a checklist of the flowers we need. We aren’t doing floral centerpieces, so this trimmed the list a bit. Read more…
