Mrs. Taco, San FranciscoAge and Occupation: 29, writer/editorFiance's Age and Occupation: 37, editorEngagement Date: May 13, 2009Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: The Green Room at the War Memorial Veterans BuildingAbout Me: I like laughing and talking with good friends over good food and good drink, be it wine, cocktail, or brew. I write and edit things for fun and profit, but I rarely "write" these days without a keyboard and high-speed internets. Favorites include Mr. Taco, my Boston terrier, San Francisco, getting out of town, and the Roaring ’20s. I was kind-of planning a wedding since roughly 2006, when I discovered "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" on the WE channel. I ran and didn't look back with a theme I called "urban vintage," and it culminated in the most magical day a taco could ask for.
Like proper California people, we love the mighty avocado. It’s delicious, nutritious, it peps up a salad or sandwich in no time, and, oh GUACAMOLE. There’s that. We even have a large, Styrofoam avocado (from the free pile at work) living in our kitchen. The long-range plan is to fill it with guacamole for parties galore, but it’s now just an oddity above our cabinets. Or art. Yeah, let’s call it art.
Once the wedding-planning train left the station, we thought it would be fun to pay homage to the avocado. So, at our first meeting with the caterer, we pitched the idea of an avocado-based, cocktail-hour appetizer. It didn’t work out for some reason; either the caterer didn’t have one already, we didn’t like the ones they had, and/or we didn’t care enough to have them make a special one for us.
Mrs. Buttons, Clearwater, FLAge and Occupation: 24, "Working on it"Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Financial ServicesEngagement Date: June 13, 2009Wedding Date: May 2010Venue: Carlouel Yacht ClubAbout Me: I'm a self proclaimed perfectionist and a professional nomad (seriously, I've lived in TX, WI, MI, FL, NC, and now VA!). I love wine, cooking, curling up with a good book (nerd alert!), spoiling the furbaby, and of course, the wonderful Mr. Buttons! We are planning a lighthearted and whimsical wedding (with a good deal of DIY projects) in Clearwater, Florida, but from a distance of 800 miles away! We are looking forward to sharing our day with our family and friends, and most importantly, starting our lives together as husband and wife!
In my last table linen installment, I broke the amazing news that Grandma Buttons was kind enough to offer her services in creating our pintuck tablecloths!
Well, after I confirmed the dimensions of our reception tables, she whipped up a few samples and sent them to us to test out at Carlouel! They happened to arrive on a Saturday when my mom and Mr. Buttons were holding a garage sale at our house. They opened up the box, and a few customers happened to notice the tablecloths. We had a few offers to purchase them right then and there! I wasn’t there, but I was glad that Mommy Buttons was not tempted to sell them on the spot… they ARE really pretty! I digress…
So, a few days later, Mommy Buttons and I made the trek to Carlouel to test the linens out! I have to admit that I was extremely worried; what if they looked awful? What if the fabric was a terrible color in the room? Well, clearly I was crazy for worrying, because they looked absolutely fantastic!
(Please ignore the wrinkles in the cloths; the linens will be steamed on the day of the wedding!) Read more…

About Me: When my best friend dragged me to a toga party in our freshmen year of college, I was not expecting to meet my future husband; but seven years later, here we are. I'm a crazy-organized planner at heart, and I am a great lover of random trivia, books, chocolate, blogs, new and exciting adventures, mockumentary-style television, and anything heavily flavored with bright orange fake cheese powder. We're planning a festive and fun mini-destination wedding in the place where we met: fabulous Pittsburgh, PA! I can't wait to marry the man I love!
Mr. O and I got engaged when we still lived in Las Vegas, thousands of miles away from our families and friends who we left back on the East Coast. I was so excited to share my engagement ring with them that I hustled straight out to the pool area in our apartment complex to take some really lame pictures, which you’ve already seen. Those were the last glamour (or, in this case, extremely non-glamour) shots I took of it.
UNTIL NOW!
Given that this is a pretty accurate depiction of how I feel about my engagement ring:

Mr. Lobster and I met in grad school and have been together ever since. I'm clueless about DIY but am an avid online shopper and love all things polka dots, stripes, and ruffles! When I'm not making wedding lists, you can find me looking for snacks, watching Gilmore Girls, or hanging out with Mr. Lobster and our new puppy Buddy! We are planning a fancy-pantsy Brooklyn wedding for a hot New York summer night which is sure to be a misadventure in the making.
Why we “need” Save-the-Dates (read: because I want to and they’re pretty):
We’re *that* Friday wedding.
Our wedding is in peak vacation season.
And so we begin work on the Save the Dates. Initially, I was gung ho about making my own Save the Dates. I love squares and saw something similar in a wedding magazine:
My attempt
Not too shabby, right? Plus I looooove that I can say “Be there or be SQUARE”. HAHAHA. OMG. But then my San Francisco BFF’s husband asked if I wanted his expertise, his expertise being in graphic design and WEDDING INVITATIONS. Read more…

I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
A long time ago I showed you all the beginnings of our cake toppers: wire, clay and lots of love! but I actually HAD to finish them! Since back them we still didn’t know exactly what we were going to end up wearing, I waited until the week before the wedding to finish them, with the help of one of my MIL’s friends. I used fabric from my dress to finish the bride and painted Mr. Poodle’s character.
Our idea for the cake topper was for the bride to be up on the top of the cake holding a rope, while Mr. Poodle would be climbing up on the side. Now, without further does, the pics!

Skirting to the East Coast for our September nuptials where my home state of Rhode Island awaits with fall foliage, I’m just a few dress fittings and bachelorette party away from saying “I Do” to a very happy ending!

An optimist at heart, my motto is to turn your "what ifs?" into "so whats!". My fiance is a radio producer and the biggest Cubs fan you'll meet - our apartment decor definitely shows it. He and I grew up next door to each other and because of it, we have the best home videos and easiest holiday dinners. We are planning an intimate wedding in the Virgin Islands and a cocktail party in June for 150 of our closest friends.
Friday I finished up my last day of work ’til May!! Mr. Nachos had gone to the Cubs game with some friends and when I got home, I was greeted by 4 funny drunkies and this…
Mel insisted that Mr. Nachos and I use the real wine glasses which I told her probably wasn’t a good idea, but she insisted… Read more…

I enjoy playing Scrabble with my Fiance, rooting for the Florida Gators, making any drink that involves a blender, cleaning (yes... I’m crazy), design... GOOD design that is, the new Pepsi with natural sugar, taking pictures, discovering new places in the U.S., and obsessing over doing (and designing) everything myself for our upcoming wedding!
These hair flowers would look absolutely beautiful with my dress (and Mr. Dolphin has said they are ’pretty’). Mr. Dolphin approves and they are within budget… score!
Here is what they look like with a bunch of the flowers (imagine it half as full as pictured, that is what I’m looking for). She is wearing 5 of these gorgeous flowers (I’m going for 4):

My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
Recently, we attended a menu tasting at our venue, Casa Real. They do menu tastings about once every 3 months, and invite all the brides and grooms getting married during a certain time block to come. The venue was set up to showcase some of the linen options (ivory or chocolate) and chair options (black banquet or mahogany chivari upgrade). They also had some professional lighting set up too, so we could see what that looks like.
In attendance: Mama Jelly, me, Mr. Jelly, FMIL and FFIL.
We were seated at a 10-person table with another family, and it was so fun exchanging our opinions about everything with a set of friendly strangers. I thought it was pretty funny that we tended to agree on everything, too! Anywho, without further ado, let’s get to the good stuff: the food! Read more…

This super-tall, Southern, loud, quirky, neurotic artist is marrying a German, quiet, silly, super-amazing roboticist in an eclectic, funky, fun, snazzy, technicolored June wedding. Anything is game for this shindig, for it is all about us! We’re bringing giant paper cranes, six-foot-tall portraits, fortune cookies, a photo booth, a club-circuit DJ, handcuffs, and possibly a kidnapping to this small Southern town. Watch out, y’all, and try to keep up!
On Friday morning, I was sitting outside for around two hours in a cardigan. No big deal, right? It’s still early-ish spring, and thinking about body sunscreen wasn’t really high on my list of priorities. Read more…

Hello from our nation’s Capital! I had the privilege of joining the incredible and inspiring group of ladies known as the B-List for a weekend of all-things-bridal-blogging.
Kate Headley stopped by to give us all some insight on the wedding photography business and snapped some shots of us all in Alexandria, VA.
The conference was set up with brides in mind (obviously!) and lunch consisted of a shower-worthy box of local foods and goodies donated by Design Cuisine and tied together beautifully by Smock. The theme was “Somethings…” as in:

My hobbies include sleeping in, seasonal brews, running, Trader Joe’s, and watching Unwrapped and Good Eats with Mr. Potato Chips. I harbor an irrational fear of tulle, crafts, things that are fussy, and overuse of the phrase "Your Special Day". After a year or seven together, down the aisle we go, slouching toward adulthood and planning a Rhodie party with equal parts whimsy, cheer, and pizza.
I’m not too concerned with the whole old/borrowed/blue/new business, but I couldn’t help but realize that my jewelry accomplishes two out of the three!
I was already planning to borrow my mom’s strand of pearls, but I was looking for a way to jazz it up a bit.
Recently at lunch with Mr. Potato Head and his parents, his mom slid a glasses case across the table to me.

My first big shopping trip entailed Priscilla of Boston and Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier in one day. I had one of my bridesmaids and my two maids of honor - my sisters who played integral roles in The Proposal.
It was an early Saturday morning. I had planned the day as a “Bridal Sandwich”: brunch sandwiched by a morning and an afternoon bridal appointment. And now, I’m about to reveal myself as the true nerd that I am. Ta da! A slide presentation of our day of shopping:
