Mrs. Hamster's Picture
Mrs. Hamster, New York City Age and Occupation: 28, Finance Gal Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Finance Guy Engagement Date: March 9, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Pierre Hotel About Me: I'm an original Jersey girl living it up in the big NYC! I love baking for others, hosting brunches, and exploring NYC with my mans. Besides Mr. Hamster (of course), I'm attracted to shiny things, bold colors, snacks, matching and coordination, pork and duck fats, miniature versions of things, corny jokes and puns. We are planning a swanky Spring wedding in the heart of NYC, followed by a second reception in Singapore. From one city that never sleeps to another - I can't imagine a more exciting ride!
About Mrs. Hamster

In my previous ring post, I shared our wedding bands with you. What we haven’t yet figured out is if we will engrave them, and if so, what the bands will say. It turns out that my band, due to its size, doesn’t have enough “engravable space” (I’m a 4.75 - it’s not like my fingers are Pixy Stix or something), but the Mister’s is fully engravable! Muahahaha - now what should we put on that baby?

Some possibilities:

1. Our initials and/or wedding date.

Simple, classic and conventional

2. “Put me back on!”

I think I saw this on Weddingbee, but for the life of me I can’t remember who did this. I think it’s witty and irreverent. However, Mr. Hamster has a more literal sense of humor, so he might see this as more of a directive than a clever joke. (Although, do I have a problem with that? Hmmm…)

3. “Lay off my Cheetos!”

Ugh, GOSH. Seriously, the Mister loves eating my food. I know this sounds kind of petty, but I love food. And I know it’s like, “What’s the big deal - don’t you share a fridge, what’s with the my food vs. his food thing?” OK I’m not going to get into it, but true story—one time I was having a bad day at work but I knew there was a slice of lemon poppy poundcake waiting at home for me, and then I got home and all that was left of the poundcake was a few crumbs on the fridge shelf and I turn to Mr. Hamster and he was all, “Oh, I got hungry so I ate that bread thing.” And then I cried.

Okay, maybe we won’t use option 3; it brings up too many bad memories.

4. Nicknames for each other

We don’t have any, unless “Babe” and “Hey…hey!!!” count.

I’ll need to think about this some more.

Are you engraving your wedding bands? If so, what are you engraving on them?

Option 3 is hilarious, but I too have seen option 2 a long, long time ago and was a fan of it, but don’t know if I would actually utilize it. I’m following this post to see options as well.

You’re funny :) I don’t know what I’m going to have engraved on the FI’s ring just yet, but he supposedly has known for quite some time what he will put on mine and won’t tell me. Ack!

I know a gal who’s husband is a surgeon, he kept losing the ring when he’d take it off to wash his hands for surgery. His ring kept disappearing (thiefs in the OR!) so the newest ring has, “If found, please call xxx-xxx-xxxx!” HAHA It’s her number so she can tease him about it when it’s found and hopefully someone calls. ;)

Once I ate exactly a half portion of mac and cheese, fully intending to eat the other half the next day. It was so good. Then when I went to eat it it was gone and I TOTALLY cried. TOTALLY, real, wet tears. I mean, I had it all planned out. Half. Then lunch the next day. I wasn’t full, but I was just planning out my next meal. I could have eaten it all the night before. But I didn’t. I PLANNED.

I feel you Ham. I feel you.

I guess try and consider who will see them later on if they are passed along. We have FI’s grandmother’s ring and their initials with the wedding date just makes me smile :)

We are getting the date engraved in ours-I’m a size 4.5 and our jewler said no problem, so maybe it is the type of ring?

*sigh*

My SO ate my pasta leftovers yesterday that I was craving all. damn. day.

Clearly I need to use post-it notes.

I’m just like you with food! I get seriously depressed when Mr. S eats something I was looking forward too!

Have you ever seen the episode of friends when Phoebe sets Joey up with a girl who he lieks, but doesnt want to date her because she takes his fries? haha

And for engraving, I want to surprise MR. S and engrave his saying “I love you more”, it’s our thing

We decided to wait on engraving and do it on an anniversary or when we have our first child as milestone presents to each other :).

We are a little dark-ish romance type of couple. I’m engraving his with “Until my heart stops beating.”

Actual tears over lemon poppy poundcake? It’s funny, but it’s not! Poor hammy!
I hold no emotional attachment to leftovers because my Dad ALWAYS got to them first, and now Mr. Seashell is no better. I just give up. If I want leftovers, I must accept that I have to hoard or something.

Haha. I’ve done exactly the same thing over food more times than I’d actually like to admit.

I actually just got his engraved a couple of weeks ago!

I wrote “you’re my dream come true. C&K 11/27/10″

(C&K being our initials, of course, and the date is our wedding date.)

I did kill a lot of time at work reading these ideas: http://www.e-weddingbands.com/store/engravefav.html

I think we’re going to engrave ours with our ridiculously cheesy nicknames for each other. Either that, or our anniversary date (but we have 2 anniversaries, so that’s kind of confusing).

It’s funny that I am reading this today. FI and I went for a walk last night and each had an ice cream along the way. He had his in a cup and I had a cone of course. A yummy, scrumptious waffle cone. Close to the end of my ice cream I asked FI if he wanted a bite. He said yes (I knew we wouldn’t pass it up) but instead of taking a bite. He ate the whole last piece of the cone. YUP! He stole the best part and the part I had ben looking forward to the whole time. And I was really upset so I know how you feel about food.

As for engraving… our song is Edwin McCain’s “Could Not Ask for More”. There is a line in the song that we split up. My band says “Everything You Are” and his says “Is Everything To Me”. It’s simple and means something to us.

I plan to get “Come rain or come shine” in his, but he doesn’t know it yet!

We both got “no takesies backsies.” It totally fits our sense of humor, and personalities, and when we were first dating I’d say “I love you” and the Mr. would ask “Forever? Promise?”, to which I would reply “Promise”, and he’d say “OK, no takesies backsies, you have to love me forever now.” The woman at the jewelry store thought it was so funny, and said it was definitely a first for her.
