2 weeks ago, Mr. Nachos and I hopped on a plane headed for paradise! Although, let’s first back it up a day or 2 before that happened… we decided to take a quick trip to Dollar Tree to fill up the OOT bags with some more fun stuff. Um…

Who in the world buys $90 worth of stuff from a frickin’ dollar store???
We do! Yup, a whopping 83 things including pool toys, crossword puzzle books, clock carabiners for the bag straps, etc. I heart the Dollar Store! Once we were satisfied that the bags would be all that we hoped they would be and realized we’d already be pushing the luggage weight restrictions, we headed home and packed our bags for 2 full weeks of fun, sun, and wedding.
But wait.
No.
It couldn’t be. Was that a sore throat I was feeling? Well of course it was, silly - because I am the queen of strep throat 2 times a year. I hadn’t been sick since I came down with H1N1 last June, so it didn’t surprise me that I would get my biannual strep visit 2 days before we were leaving. We calmly called our friendly doctor who graciously prescribed me a Z-Pak and nipped that one in the bud. Sigh of relief, crisis #1 averted!
From there, the plan was to be in the air at 6:00AM on Monday morning, which meant we were up at 2:00AM, with the limo coming at 3:00AM. And when it arrived, I couldn’t believe my eyes! Mr. Nachos had ordered a 10 person black stretch to take us to the airport in style, but instead they sent us a huge 18-person Cadillac Escalade stretch for some reason…

That’s me alllllllllll the way in the back… can you see me? My dress even had its own bench seat! The limo came complete with sa-weet zebra print on the ceiling, an interior strobe light, flashing LED lights on the outside, and a driver that went 65 mph down Irving Park Road at 3 in the morning. What should have been a 35 minute ride to O’Hare took just under 10 minutes in this beauty… we were like a gaudy flashy rocket peeling down the highway! It seriously was surreal.
We arrived at O’Hare, waited in line at Spirit Airlines for a little bit, and finally made it to our gate with some time to spare…

Sleep deprived

Mmmmm, McDonald’s at 4AM

We carried on all of our wedding day necessities just in case the airline decided to send any of our luggage on a little detour. My poor dress was folded and bunched over my arm for hours and I had stuffed a bag full of all my accessories into the body of it. But just you wait, she came through in more ways than I could have ever imagined! Anywho, when we got on the plane, the flight attendant actually took my dress and hung it up next to the pilot for me - it got to ride shotgun to FL! A few minutes later, we took off for a day-long journey of flying…

Yes, that is already pure exhaustion in our eyes. We had already been up for 4 hours and it was only 6 in the morning. About 9 hours later on flight number 2, we were looking at this from my window seat…

Ah, so close to paradise. I was getting excited!
