Ms Potato Chips's Picture
Ms. Potato Chips, Boston/Narragansett RI Age and Occupation: 29, PhD Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Personal Trainer/Business Owner/Physical Therapy Assistant Engagement Date: January 1, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: The Narragansett Towers About Me: A semi-professional bookworm, if I could be a literary character I’d be a cross between Jo March and Jane Eyre, only better accessorized and much lazier. My hobbies include sleeping in, seasonal brews, running, Trader Joe’s, and watching Unwrapped and Good Eats with Mr. Potato Chips. I harbor an irrational fear of tulle, crafts, things that are fussy, and overuse of the phrase "Your Special Day". After a year or seven together, down the aisle we go, slouching toward adulthood and planning a Rhodie party with equal parts whimsy, cheer, and pizza.
About Ms Potato Chips

Yay!

May 10th, 2010 @ 1:39 pm by Ms Potato Chips

I was so taken with the idea of cheery flags as a ceremony send-off that I did something crazy.

I crafted. This is major. I even used a paint brush! And I wore a smock. A smock!

I ordered small canvas flags from Oriental Trading and a YAY stencil from Just Stencils. Then my mom had to teach me to stencil because I must have missed that day in third grade. Stenciling is no joke! But I got the hang of it.

Look Mom! Look what I did!

We used green and blue paints for a breezy summery feel. After they dried we put a dab of glue on the wooden sticks to keep the canvas flags in place. Then we stuck about fifty of them in a $3 fake Nantucket basket from the Christmas Tree Shoppe and called it a day.

The flags will be handed out at the end of the ceremony for people to wave as we exit the church. But I hope our guests wave them all night long. I know I will. YAY!

Those are SO cute! Maybe its just my crazy eyes, but for some reason, the stenciled image looks backwards to me. Well I guess it doesn’t matter which way you use the stencil because it still spells YAY! And I need to have my crazy eyes checked. hehe. I love them! Momma PChipz will be so proud! Those are going to be so fun to wave around. :)

Lol… we’ve been sharing a brain :) I’m wrapping up my yay flags- using paper instead of canvas. So wish I had thought of stenciling fabric! Great job!

That’s great! I’m going to be stenciling canvas bags. What type of paint did you use?

Thanks.

@Miss Splash: It was paint my mom already had. Craft paint? Is that a thing?
