Mrs. Spaniel's Picture
Mrs. Spaniel, Los Angeles Age and Occupation: 28, Law Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Psychologist Wedding Date: March 2010 Venue: Calamigos Ranch About Me: I'm a third-year law student trying to balance graduating with starting my career, keeping up a relationship, and, oh yeah, planning an Old World, multi-cultural, "mountain lodge" wedding for 180 guests! A South Asian Jewish girl getting ready to marry my handsome Catholic Dane, I'm hoping to blend our cultures in our wedding just a bit more gently than by providing samosas as appetizers and offering æbleskiver for dessert. (Although that would also be awesome.)
About Mrs. Spaniel

Before we knew it, it was Sunday morning and time to go home.

Spaniels' California Adventure: You Can (Sort of) Go Home Again : wedding honeymoon los angeles Putyourfeetup

On the road again

It was back to the grind of 5:00 AM alarms and commutes across the sprawl of Los Angeles; back to homework, studying, finals, and not drinking all the fabulous wine we came home with. I wouldn’t exactly say I suffered from “post-wedding depression”… but man did reality hit hard after the honeymoon! Folks, if you can take an extra day or two readjusting your sleep clock before returning to real life, I highly recommend it! I did have a few amazing things to look forward to when I got back, though. Not only did I graduate law school just five short weeks (okay, five intensely long weeks) after we came back home from the honeymoon…

Spaniels' California Adventure: You Can (Sort of) Go Home Again : wedding honeymoon los angeles Gradpic

(Yes! I did graduate!)

…but I also knew I had the wedding recaps to look forward to! So while I wait for image files from our photographer and figure out how in the world I am going to write these recaps (why did no one tell me how hard they would be? Where do I even start?!), I have one more (huge, gigantic) thing keeping me entertained…

Spaniels' California Adventure: You Can (Sort of) Go Home Again : wedding honeymoon los angeles Barprepbooks

I was supposed to learn all of this during law school. I tell you, I did not.

So help a sister out! What do you find most helpful or interesting in wedding recaps?

Want to see where the adventure began?

Part I: Sonoma County

Part II: Central Coast

Congratulations on graduating from law school! You’ve had such an amazing (and chaotic, I’m sure) couple of months! Can’t wait for your recaps!

Congrats on graduating! I love stories to go along with the photos especially when you have a little internal narration going on.

Oh, I have a pile of those awful green books as well… (and I have two more finals to complete before I get to graduate). Congratulations! From what I hear, it’s entirely possible to make studying for the bar less stressful than law school, and I’m a full believer that state of mind is at least half the battle!

Congrats on graduating!!! What a wonderful accomplishment!
I’m with Cola, the details are my favorite part of recaps. And sweet, stolen moments between the bride and groom.

Congrats on graduating! I don’t know how you came back to law school after your honeymoon!
I like seeing the wedding from the beginning and seeing how the day unfolded. I agree with Cola too that the I like seeing all the details you blogged about and how they came together!

ps-I am dreading cracking open those barbri books.

I tell you what… I never (and I mean never) cracked any of the long-outline barbri books. worthless. You don’t have time for it. I pretty much just used my barbri class notes and short outline (and lets be honest… pretty much just my class notes). Good luck :)

Congrats again! My FI was a 2009 law school grad and took the Bar in NY (and just got sworn in last Wed). So I’ve been there as the supporter. I wish you luck, and try to keep your wits about you- Use the wedding recaps as a balancing, creative outlet. Don’t let them add to your stress. My guy got himself so freaked out by the bar that he insisted he wanted to go to med school to get out of it. Of course, he and all his friends did fine despite their fears, and I’m sure you will too =)

Oooh Congrats! My favorite part of recaps are ooey gooey kisses/laughter/candid moments between the couple and their guests. Oh and dancing grannies! I LOVE me some dancing gmas! :)

I just passed the Feb bar exam after my Dec graduation so my sympathy goes out to you as you do all your barbri. You will do great, just stay focused and do TONS of practice questions!

congrats on graduating law school - what a huge accomplishment! My favorite parts of the recaps would definitely be the details and seeing how everything you talked about came together - can’t wait to see it!

I start BarBri on May 26th and graduate law school on the 28th (we’re a little slow in MA!) so I feel your pain!

I’d recognize those red bricks of Dickson Plaza anywhere… as a fellow Bruin, congrats on graduating from UCLA Law!
