Hello fellow bees!
I am SO excited to be here! I’ve been reading Weddingbee for a little over a year now and mused at some point that it might be nice to join you all—and now here I am!
I’m marrying the most wonderful woman (yes, woman!) in just about four months—I suppose we’re really hitting crunch time! She says to tell you all, “I’m here, I’m queer, and I’m totally getting married!”
A little about us: we met at work almost three years ago, didn’t talk at all for the first couple of months of coworker-dom, and then finally broke the ice when I overheard her talking about roller derby and told her she should come to the roller derby prom with me. In true awkward first-date fashion, I followed up with this email:
“Will you go to prom with me? Check one: Yes__ No__ Maybe__.” She said yes. It was her first prom!

That’s me with the Mohawk and her with the flower. Isn’t she pretty?
And things got better from there!
I got a dog (fulfilling a major life dream) a few months after we started dating, we moved in together a few months after that, have had a few stints with temporary/foster kitties, and now are happily settled with one more full-time cat in addition to the kitty she already had. We don’t work together anymore: I work at a cat-only veterinary clinic and she is currently working for the census and job searching. I’m also taking classes for vet school, hopefully applying next fall, and of course taking some art classes on the side (some scheduled fun to balance out the chaos), as well as training for a 100-mile bicycle ride with my dad.

(All of the above are personal photos. You may notice that I am not in most of them: it’s because I’m the photographer in our funny little family.)
We’re planning a pretty small wedding on a relatively small budget. We’re getting married about 20 minutes from home, outside if the weather permits, and we’re excited about the fall foliage background! At this point we have most of the big details worked out—so we’re moving onto the little ones! We know what our invitations will look like… but what will they say?? More to follow on that one. We’re trying to keep in touch with our crunchy, authentic selves through all this planning, while still maintaining some tradition and having a wedding that all of our grandparents will be comfortable celebrating—it’s definitely an adventure! I can’t wait to have you all along for the ride!

Here I am at our venue: thrilled to have found it, and thrilled to be a Bee!
Love,
Miss Seahorse
