Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

While brainstorming with my FIL about what we should do with the top of the door on our outdoor chapel, he came up with the idea of hanging a window right above the French doors. I loved the idea!! He suggested that maybe we could paint the window and keep it in my office as a keepsake of the day. He really got me with that one!

I asked one of MIL’s friends that is a great glass artist to paint it for me, and she was very very happy to help us. But sadly she got really sick so I came up with a backup plan—I made a template and painted our window with MARKERS! smile

Unfortunately it’s not everlasting because we tested the markers on a piece of glass, and after 2 days in  direct sunlight it faded to the point that you would never even know that the marker was there.

So, we decided we were going to hang it just a few hours before the wedding and cover it with a protective layer afterwards.

To make it, I printed a template and placed it behind the window (after it was done I realized I should have printed the template backwards and painted on the backside). You live, you learn!

I tried to mark the letters as detailed as possible but the template was not against the glass so from the sides it look like I was not being accurate at all, but from the front it looked good.

Slowly, I moved on to the rest

Mr. Poodle snapped a picture of me taking the template off (it was kind of foggy)!

And here it is!

I love the way it ended up looking! Now, to keep it in my office, we’ll be sending it to my MIL’s friend and she’ll repaint the design on the back of the glass with real glass paint, so it will last longer. :)

Are you making something as a keepsake of your wedding day? What is it?

Nicely done Mrs. Poodle–you are so flippin’ clever! What a great idea and you, as usual, did a beautiful job. (BTW, still working on that sweater design…you know, the ballet wrap one? Trying to figure out how to cut the part that crosses underneath from a pullover sweater–obviously will entail some sewing of “leftovers”…hmmmm).
