Mrs. Lamb, Norfolk Age and Occupation: 25, Homeland Security Consultant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Graduate Student Engagement Date: January 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Trinity Presbyterian Church/Harrison Opera House About Me: I’m a Homeland Security Consultant with a tendency towards pulling office pranks, taking lunch breaks, and drinking Wawa shakes. I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!
About Mrs. Lamb

Mine at Last: Photobooth

May 14th, 2010 @ 11:55 am by Mrs. Lamb

One of my favorite things at our wedding was our makeshift photobooth (aka fauxtobooth). I see a lot of people asking on the boards if these are overdone or tacky. Besides my former roommate, who was planning a wedding at the same time as me, we’re the only two weddings that I’ve seen a photobooth at (she rented a real one that spit out the classic four picture black and white strips - very cool!). If you love it, I say, “Do it!”

During the cocktail hour, my event designer worked with our photographer, Sam Hughes, to create a small studio space.

They tied a ribbon sign between two chairs, hoisted a few yards of fabric onto the backdrop stand that Sam brought, and then let the good times roll. Our second shooter manned the booth and we’ve posted all of the pics on a Shutterfly website so guests can easily download or print them. At first, friends and family gathered for nice shots.

I’ve been mocking up photo books as gifts for family and I really love ending the books with spreads of these pictures. It reminds me of everyone who came and shared our day with us. I think it also provided some fun for them as well!

Have you been to a wedding with a photobooth? Did you partake in the photo fun?

We are SO doing this. Between your pics and Mrs. Mouse’s, I’m defo on this one. It’s a great way to get everyone loosened up for really memorable pics.

I just love this idea — am thinking of doing a DIY version by having a camera available and letting everyone take each others pictures. Is that lame??

@bklynldy: Not at all! My bridesmaids and friends took pictures of each other with their own cameras as well. I think it would totally work! Maybe just make a sign saying that you’ll email people their photos when you’re back from the honeymoon :)

I just laughed in my office for about 2 minutes straight at your caption
“Lamma-ramma-ding-dong’s Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins”
I die :)

I really like the black & white background you have. I had the traditonal photobooth with the 4 picture strips and it was so much fun!

Question, Mrs. Lamb: how did you get your fabulous lipstick to stay on like that all night?! It looks fabulous in absolutely every photo! I want to rock a red lipstick at my wedding and would love some tips! :)

Photo-booths are so fun–looks like yours was a blast!

This is what I want to do! Looks like you had a fun photo op area. LOVE IT! And I can totally see my friends acting like fools with fun props. And the pics of you and your sister in law… that will probably be me and my bestie.

@jackie-o: If you can believe it, my event designer (Pavaune) scored all of the props at the Dollar Tree!
@amy13: I’m not a makeup guru at all and it didn’t occur to me to ask my stylist when she was applying it. Before hiring her, I was going to do hair/makeup myself and test drove some Maybelline long lasting color (see results in this post: http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/12/28/bee-a-ewe-tiful-take-four-five-and-six/) - Hope this helps!

I am trying to create a photo/video share site so I would put all the pics in a folder called “Photo Booth” I might even set it up in one of the downstairs bedrooms (we rented a beach house for the wedding) — put sinage on the door or even decorate the doorway — possibly even have a laptop with video set up for video guest book entries. I just want something different — first time around (I’ am divorced 19 years) I dont even remember looking at the guest book after the inital look.

I’m doing this too but we are using our mac computer with the built in photo-booth program and setting up a printer so that guests can take home the strips of 3 photos with them as a favor and then it saves all our photos to the hard-drive so that we can make a guestbook with them after the wedding. We are also going to include a chalkboard for a prop so people can write messages on it and include them in the picture!

@superstarkld — I only wish I had a mac!! That sound wonderful — you are going to have a great guest book.

‘Ray Bucknell - glad to see so many of them could make it to the wedding! Since BU and many of my classmates are 3,000 miles away, there’s only a few of them that can make it to our wedding. But I have no doubt that those few will party hard for the rest of them!
