Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego Age and Occupation: 28, Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor Engagement Date: December 20, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
About Mrs. Hot Wings

Have any of you been growing out your hair for the big wedding day? I got engaged 18 months ago, and I had been growing my hair ever since. It was out of control! I think my head was starting to hurt from the weight. Seriously! I couldn’t get any volume in those locks for the life of me.

So I headed to my hair stylist, the lovely Romi at Robert Jeffery’s Lakeview location. (Side note, she’s amazing! The woman gives me the most amazing tease-y layers. It’s where she teases my hair, then cuts layers). She’s my Chicago stylist. I’ve been going to her for years. It saddens me that she can’t be my wedding day stylist since we’re getting married in San Diego. Anyways, I showed her some inspiration pictures, and asked her to whack off as much hair as she could while still allowing me to achieve that look. She whacked off several inches, then finished with some curls for fun.

And then wrapped to the side, here’s the look I created all by myself!

Not bad right?

Did anyone else have to have a pre-wedding whack?

Pretty!! I’ve literally been growing my hair out since 2007 (seriously. Haven’t gotten more than a trim since) and it just will not grow. It’s just about down to my shoulder blades now but I think that’s as long as it’s gonna get, sadly enough :(

Looks beautiful! And yep! Just this past Wednesday we had our e pics taken. I’d already realized that in growing my hair out I’d neglected things like shape and volume and it just looked blah. I feel so. much. better.

You are much braver than I am! Congrats on the cute new hair cut!

I’ve been dying to cut mine for the last 6 months…it’s about 5 inches below my shoulders. Future hubs is all for me getting it cut but it’s at that length where if I cut it, I know i’ll cut it to chin length to give to pantene’s wigs for cancer kids. At least I only have 4 months left with it.

I’m on the hair growing train as well. It’s finally got some length so I’m approaching the look I was hoping for. Yours looks stunning!!

lovely!! I got a pre-wedding trim since my hair (which I was trying to grow out as well) was starting to annoy me (and the ends going in different directions)

You hair looks really cute! My daughter’s hair was long for her May 1 wedding, but three days later, she cut it very short! No matter how you wear your hair, you (and all brides!) will be lovely on your wedding day! All the best to you and your fiance! I love the side ‘do you did. It looks so great!! I too am growing out my hair, though it wasnt short to begin with. At this point its about 2/3 the way down my back, and it drives me nuts. hahah. But I know I want long hair for the wedding, so Im sucking it up. Its so hard to not just put it up all the time (and I HATE the feeling of wet hair on my back). I have super thick wavy/curly hair so I totally get what you mean about the weight litterally giving you headaches! :)

My hair was so long (like middle of my back) and last month I got the urge to chop it, so I did!! I wanted it mid shoulder length but the girl cut it too short!! Thank goodness I have 17 months to grow it out again :(

I’ve been growing out my hair for a while now and I have been getting very lazy with it. I wear it in a pony tail all the time because its so thick and now its long…. very annoying, still don’t know what I want to do with my hair yet but i want to keep my options open.

I had been growing my hair for almost 9 months and it was a couple of inches past my shoulders. I went to my hairstylist yesterday and asked for a trim. I told her that I wanted to keep the length for my upcoming wedding. She didn’t follow my instructions and my hair now barely grazes my shoulders. My stylist told me that she had to take off the length in order to create a shape that was more appropriate for longer hair (my last style was chin length), but not until it was too late to stop her. I like my new cut, but am really sad I won’t have long hair for my wedding and although he didn’t say anything, I can tell my fiance is sad as well.

@Miss Trail Mix: I’d give you some of mine if I could. It grows too much I think.
@labrat: Good for you. That’s such a great cause! I really want to do it one day when I gain the patience!
@soontobekatieb: I totally know what you mean by the headaches! The pain. Good luck!
@mebless: I’m so sorry! Thank goodness for the 17 month time!
@superstarkld: I totally know about the pony tail too! Definitely keep growing until you know the style you want.
@sunstar: Awww. I’m so sorry. I’m certain you’ll still look stunning on your W day and he won’t even notice the hair, but rather the beauty of the entire package ;)
