Mrs. Hamster's Picture
Mrs. Hamster, New York City Age and Occupation: 28, Finance Gal Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Finance Guy Engagement Date: March 9, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Pierre Hotel About Me: I'm an original Jersey girl living it up in the big NYC! I love baking for others, hosting brunches, and exploring NYC with my mans. Besides Mr. Hamster (of course), I'm attracted to shiny things, bold colors, snacks, matching and coordination, pork and duck fats, miniature versions of things, corny jokes and puns. We are planning a swanky Spring wedding in the heart of NYC, followed by a second reception in Singapore. From one city that never sleeps to another - I can't imagine a more exciting ride!
About Mrs. Hamster

In my last map post, I told you about our wedding map, which I had toiled over only to be at a loss at where to put it (invitations, wedding website and welcome bags weren’t viable options for this little map). Thanks to your really helpful comments, I got my map printed as postcards for free (well, with $9 shipping) - thank you hmaxwell77 for the tip!

And here they are!

This Little Map Went to the Mailbox : wedding diy nyc stationery Pptmap21 pptmap2

I added a little hotel for the Pierre (created on PowerPoint by yours truly) instead of the bland conversation box I had in the map’s previous incarnation. We’re sending them as postcards to those who RSVPed ‘Yes’ as a “Can’t wait to see you!” note. I’m so happy these little maps will make their appearance!

Were there any DIY projects you had to scrap, only to have resurrected them later on?

Looks great! We used that same little giraffe for the Houston Zoo on our maps. And I must say, I’m envious of your neat little NYC grid of streets. Our map had curves and weird parallel lines and a roundabout. Took forever. And once we were almost done? Computer crashed. So I guess we had to resurrect it in a way.

Absolutely adorable!!!! How did you make it in Powerpoint? I just got my Save-the-Date cards from Vistaprint. I won 100 cards free from a blog giveaway on Bee and Patrick’s wedding blog. I love the way they look. I just got some more with another special they had going on, so now we have our STD’s. Now, I want to do a map just like yours!

I swoon over wedding maps. Dunno, it’s my thing. :) As a guest, I’d love this ‘can’t wait to see me’ gesture! Great job!

Love. them. Wish we had done ours in color! I am so glad you discovered a clever way to incorporate these! I judge all wedding endeavors by how scrapbook-able they are–these gets top ranking! (This coming from someone who almost a year out has scrapbooked nada!)

@Miss Bonnie Blue: I basically took a screen shot of the Google Map and traced over it in Powerpoint - some other Bees have done this as well!
