About Mrs. Turtle

I just realized that I have yet to tell you about our amaaazing wedding coordinator, Danae Grace!

Back in the day, Danae and I went to high school together. I remember sitting next to her in U.S. history class my sophomore year, and talking way more about our latest boy drama than history…

Awkwaaard Turtle alert! This is me and Danae on the last day of my sophomore year of high school!

We always clicked really well, but she graduated a year before me, and we kind of lost contact after high school. Well, fast forward about five years… Mr. Turtle and I are engaged, and we attend our first bridal show together over on the Central Coast, and we run into Danae!

We got to talking, and I learned that she graduated from college with a degree in Special Event Management and was in the process of launching her own wedding and event planning company, Danae Grace Events. She had tons of experience, including a job coordinating special events at a local resort. Before we even finished talking, I knew that running into Danae that day was meant to be. Up until that point, I didn’t think I even wanted a wedding coordinator, but I’ve since realized that I most definitely need one! And I can’t imagine anyone filling the position besides Danae!

Since hiring Danae, I have not only been thankful for her wedding expertise, but also so happy to have an excuse to hang out with her again! Many people hire “friendors” who are friends that step in as vendors, but in my opinion, Danae is first and foremost a talented, capable vendor… but one who also happens to be a great friend! I feel 100% confident knowing that our wedding day will be in her hands!

And to make up for the awkwardness in the above photo, (sorry Danae!), here is a more recent photo of her taken for her website:

Have any of you hired “friendors?” Are they friends who happen to have hidden talents, or talented vendors who happen to be friends?

does it count that my husband is the manager of a catering company and so, obviously, we are using HIS company as our caterer? (which btw i can’t tell you how much this ROCKS! not having to worry about my catering! lol)

My caterer is a friendor! My BFF in HS… lost contact here and there over the years… and here we are, 20 years since we first met, and she’s my caterer! She’s been an angel sent from above, too… as we were having terrible difficulties finding a caterer to come to our remote-ish location without charging us an arm and a leg for something simple! Yay for old friends!

Our photographer is a “friendor”. My FI and him use to shoot weddings together back in college. So glad I could get someone we trust and willing to let us have all the uneditied photos - any time we want!

I have quite a few, some of which became friends after I booked them. And some were friends beforehand.

I became friends with one of the vendor inquiries I did. She took our epics! It definitely was meant to be after losing touch after graduation!

friendors are awesome because they always seem like they have our best interest at heart and it has been so wonderful having them around taking care of us.

That’s awesome! It does sound like it’s meant to be!

I was fortunate enough to befriend an awesome professional photog a year before we got engaged. When R popped the question, there wasn’t a doubt in my mind that she’d be shooting the wedding.
