About Mrs. Pencils

As we wait for pro pics to arrive, let me transport you to the days before our wedding…

Bridesmaid CH arrived two Thursdays before the wedding day to assist in all the wedding details gloriousness, and one of the biggest tasks we had to accomplish was finally completing the ring holder for my uncle, our “ring bearer”. I knew we couldn’t go with the traditional pillow for the grown man he is…

I settled on one of my favorite Sunday activities: pottery painting! Of course, in classic Pencils fashion, I left this task until the weekend before the wedding… with just one week for me to paint, them to dip and fire them, and Mr. Pencils to pick it up. Not cutting it close at all, no…

CH and I each chose our own piece and got to work. I was a bit nervous to begin, worried I’d mess it up…

CH started right in and soon had a beautiful creation…

I started simple…

And then promptly tried to do too much. I had to re-write my name three times…each time, it was off center or looked weird or didn’t match Mr. P’s name. Finally, I gave up trying to make it perfect…

and settled on the final product:

And Bridesmaid CH had created a gorgeous mug:

I was pretty satisfied that I had created something that my Uncle M could be proud to carry on our wedding day… or at least, not be ashamed to!

Did you go a route other than pillow for your ring bearer?

Aw, that’s so cute! I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do for our rings since we don’t have a ringbearer either…Hmmmm, I’ll prolly wait until the last minute too :)

Just out of curiosity, how did you list your uncle in the program? Did you call him your “ring bearer” or did you use something else?

We’re thinking about using a very close friend of ours as ring bearer…but aren’t sure about what to call him.

Adorable creations! And very unique!
My ring bearer is my 3 year old nephew, and instead of the traditional pillow he will be carrying a teddy bear (matching our colours) with the rings tied on with ribbon.

Cute ring holder! Are you using it around the house now to hold your rings?

Wow how lucky are you that your BM could take so much time off to help you with details! I had to work the week of my wedding, never mind my bridesmaids!

Our ring bearer is my 12 yo nephew (who’s almost as tall as me) and he’s carrying a robot chihuahua that my fiance has an unnatural attachment to! It’s also in memory of our two pups that can’t make it to the wedding :o)

Yay! So cute! I suggested going to a local potter shop but FI wanted to try tackling this at home ourselves! So we’ll be purchasing oven bake clay to make our own ring bowls. I’m going to put a little hole on top that way they can become our Christmas ornaments as well. His bowl will have love in Chinese and mine will have love in German for each other’s ancestry. =)

oh that is beautiful! we used a shell we got from myrtle beach [that's where husband proposed to me] we found it in the ocean and we had the florist fill it up with moss and flowers to just carry down the aisle!
