Mrs. Turtle's Picture
Mrs. Turtle, Central California Age and Occupation: 21, Art Student/Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, English Student Engagement Date: August 16, 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Mr. Turtle's Grandparents' backyard, Arroyo Grande, CA About Me: I am a California girl who loves the beach and the mountains, but is quite satisfied living right in the middle where I can enjoy the best of both worlds. I am happiest when traveling to faraway places, wandering through museums, watching old movies, or baking up a storm. Mr. Turtle and I are high school sweethearts and fellow book nerds who both drive Mini Coopers and are most likely to be found browsing in antique stores. We're having so much fun planning our European garden wedding with a vintage twist and can't wait to share more of life's adventures together!
About Mrs. Turtle

This is It!

May 20th, 2010 @ 6:24 pm by Mrs. Turtle

Now that we have less than two months remaining until our wedding, it’s time for me to stop brainstorming and start focusing on what we already have planned. In our initial planning stages, I made quite a few inspiration boards of what I thought I wanted our wedding to look like. But recently, I had a revelation!

I had been feeling particularly overwhelmed with all of the items that still needed to be crossed off my to-do list and DIY details I still have yet to accomplish. One night, I showed my inspiration boards to Mr. Turtle and asked him, “How on earth am I going to make our wedding look like this?” He stared at them for a while and responded, “I don’t get it. What do all of these pictures have to do with our wedding?”

Umm, reality check! There are a lot of beautiful weddings that have come before ours, ones that totally inspire me. But it’s totally unrealistic for me to try and make our wedding live up to weddings with completely different venues, budgets, and styles. Why set such unattainable goals? So Mr. Turtle and I sat down together and made a brand new inspiration board. We made an effort to only include details that will absolutely be a part of our wedding. We even added some of our own photos, like what the wedding party will be wearing, my veil, our venue, and the cake stand my mom bought me.

So here it is, in all its glory! Meet our final inspiration board, for real this time:

I think I’ve written about most of the aspects of our wedding that are represented in this collage. But if anything catches your eye that I have not referenced, or if you have any questions about anything, please let me know, and I will add it to my list of future posts!

As close as we are getting to the wedding, I am finding myself in a total state of peace. As far as the wedding planning goes, I finally feel like I can see everything coming together. And as far as being married, I can’t wait to take this next step with Mr. Turtle and I look forward to all of the adventures we face in our future together!

As you get closer to your wedding date, do you find yourself freaking out, or is everything becoming clearer?

I’m a little nervous about how zen I am about our remaining list and the almost-only-two-months until the wedding. Like, maybe I’m just in denial? Or is everything actually under control? Every other day or so something will flare up in my consciousness that freaks me out a bit, but I really think it’s all going to be okay. I think the only major disaster at this point could be if we take too long assembling the invitations over the next week or so.

@Miss Pin Cushion: Thanks! It’s Mr. Turtle’s grandparents’ backyard! They would be flattered you think so!
@kmale0402: Thank you! I bought my veil at Down the Aisle in Arroyo Grande, California. The designer is Jennifer Leigh, I think they sell her veils at a lot of places. Check out her web site! I love my veil! It has little tiny rhinestones and pearls on it too that sparkle in the light!
@Mrs. Perfume: Thank you!! I’ll be thrilled if our wedding looks half as amazing as yours! :)
