Mrs. Hamster's Picture
Mrs. Hamster, New York City Age and Occupation: 28, Finance Gal Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Finance Guy Engagement Date: March 9, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Pierre Hotel About Me: I'm an original Jersey girl living it up in the big NYC! I love baking for others, hosting brunches, and exploring NYC with my mans. Besides Mr. Hamster (of course), I'm attracted to shiny things, bold colors, snacks, matching and coordination, pork and duck fats, miniature versions of things, corny jokes and puns. We are planning a swanky Spring wedding in the heart of NYC, followed by a second reception in Singapore. From one city that never sleeps to another - I can't imagine a more exciting ride!
About Mrs. Hamster

By now, you know what our guests will be eating at the reception; however, I never talked about our cocktail hour munchies! I love cocktail hours - more than once, I’ve stood outside the kitchen exit with Sis Hamster or my bridesmaids, just so we could have prime pickings. Yes, we are “those people”.

We are going with a mix of fancy-pantsy and casual for our hors d’oeuvres selection. First, the fancy-pantsy:

1. Watermelon cube with goat cheese and extra virgin olive oil

Just Gimme My Franks-in-Blanks... : wedding food nyc Waterme waterme

Fruit is good for you.

2. Terrine of foie gras on brioche toast

Just Gimme My Franks-in-Blanks... : wedding food nyc 102725 102725

I list “duck fats” in my profile. Of course we’re having this.

3. Mission figs with gorgonzola

Hey Cheezy, come to mama

4. Caviar on blini

Eggs are good for you too.

5. Roasted baby lamb chop with fresh rosemary

Just Gimme My Franks-in-Blanks... : wedding food nyc New Wed new_wed

I love meat on sticks!

6. Coconut langoustines

Just Gimme My Franks-in-Blanks... : wedding food nyc Blog Co blog-co

Something I learned today: langoustine = “real big shrimp”

7. Wild mushroom risotto ball

Carbs + Fried? Sign me up!

8. Short ribs of beef spring roll with hot sauce

Just Gimme My Franks-in-Blanks... : wedding food nyc Spring spring_

The roll of my people.

9. Prosciutto and sage palmier

Just Gimme My Franks-in-Blanks... : wedding food nyc Palmier palmier

I always thought they were called butterfly cookies.

Next, what y’all have been waiting for - the casual assortment!

1. Assorted mini pizzettes

It’s not delivery, it’s…

2. Parmesan crusted gougeres

Just Gimme My Franks-in-Blanks... : wedding food nyc Gougere gougere

3. Mini sliders

4. Mini grilled cheeses

5. And the piece de resistance…

Just Gimme My Franks-in-Blanks... : wedding food nyc Sp083 sp083

Franks in Blanks

We will also be having a seafood station, sushi station, a Peking duck station and a carving station. I’m all picture-searching’ed out, but I’m sure you can imagine. And THEN, after that - the dinner. It’s a lot of food, but I know the Hamster guests are up for the challenge. :)

Which of the above would you be pigging out on?

mmmm… I would be munching #8 of your “fancy” assortment, and ALL of ur casual appys. yum yum yum.

Funny thing, my husband demanded that there be “piggies in blankies” at our wedding– and they were the first thing to go! LOL.

You had me at goat cheese and gorgonzola. And then it just kept getting better.

Looks DELISH!!! Especially the mini pizzas and mini grilled cheese–I love anything mini, and anything involving melted cheese.

This is the most food I have ever seen at a wedding, ever. You will have to roll your guests out the door at the end of the night.

Lobster. Hungry. Now!!

You know what I always disliked about cocktail hours? The small plates. Give me a bowl and a fork.

The grilled cheese points with the shot of tomato soup are my favorite!! What an awesome idea (& one that I just may have to steal for a future gathering!).

This food is intense - I love it!

Hammy, you’re killing me with the food pictures. First the food tasting, then the cake, now this! Yum yum yum. I’m particularly wowed by the watermelon/goat cheese and FOIE GRAS. I may be a big ole unethical duck killer, I could swim in foie gras.

Yummmmmmmm…
