Mrs. Scissors, LaGrange, GA Age and Occupation: 25, Photography & Graphic Design Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Engineering Grad Student Engagement Date: January 1, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house! About Me: I’m a six-foot-three bride with a fifty-foot personality! I love great art, fabulous design, intense color, tons of music, indie photography, watching movies on repeat, and being really awesome. This super-tall, Southern, loud, quirky, neurotic artist is marrying a German, quiet, silly, super-amazing roboticist in an eclectic, funky, fun, snazzy, technicolored June wedding. Anything is game for this shindig, for it is all about us! We’re bringing giant paper cranes, six-foot-tall portraits, fortune cookies, a photo booth, a club-circuit DJ, handcuffs, and possibly a kidnapping to this small Southern town. Watch out, y’all, and try to keep up!
About Mrs. Scissors

… and bought completely different rings.

Pete and Repete Got Back into Their Boat... : wedding georgia rings Ring1wb ring1wb

Right before we were about to order our pretty rings from Whiteflash and Blue Nile, we remembered that Mr. Scissors didn’t know his ring size. There was one private jeweler that we hadn’t visited in Hotlanta, and we figured it was as good of a time as any to go look at their rings, aka pretend to buy one and get Mr. Scissors sized.

In walked fate, and on the 17th floor of a shiny high-rise in Buckhead, before we knew it, Mr. Scissors and I had purchased our rings from this jeweler we’d previously ignored. His ring was less expensive than Blue Nile, and mine was the same as Whiteflash. Oh yeah, and my ring? Specially made por moi and to fit underneath my engagement ring. Everything to my crazy-picky list of things I wanted and needed.

Yesterday, we picked up the rings, and ZOMG are we happy.

Local family-owned jeweler for the win. Custom ring for the win.

How many times did you change your mind about rings? Who else went the custom route via a local jeweler? How was your experience?

I got mine custom made by a jeweler on ETSY - I have this crazy artsy engagement ring that I thought couldn’t have a match, but they did a custom octagonal band for me! It was the fingerprint rings - Fabuluster - my FI’s choice, and I was amazed that they could get the shape I needed. Local handmade artist for the win ;-)

We had our rings custom made as well by a local artist. I loved the design portion, get exactly what you want with no compromise. Best of all they are one of a kind.

OOooh, pretty! We bought ours from an online retailer, but they came today too. It shows off how beat up my e-ring is already…lol.

That’s awesome! I got my e-ring from a “local” family-owned shop.. I was super happy when I bought it, not happy at all when they didn’t help us with finding the matching band, but then happy again when they replaced a missing diamond chip for free when they serviced my ring earlier this week. I guess it just depends on who you are dealing with… :)

What a smart lady. Ours aren’t custom but they’re made by a tiny shop in Philly. yay.

I haven’t changed my mind about the band, yet. We don’t walk that isle for more then a year but Mr. Tribble to be just fell in love with his ring and the one for me was really nice too. I had no idea what I wanted other then, can go with my engagement ring and not gold.
My best friends when the custom route and are still dealing with them now almost a month after the wedding. We almost did not have them in time for the wedding, so I am worried about custom making my own ring.

pretty rings! we both ended up wanting wide simple bands. So, we went one afternoon and found bands in a couple of hours and I can’t wait to wear mine!!

Both my parents and Fi’s parents gave us some of our grandparents’ diamonds that we took to our local jeweler to make our bands. I’m super excited about having both families represented in my band.

Mine was custom-made and hand-made by a local jeweler as well - so glad I went that route!

Gorgeous rings! I’m still trying to figure out what i want, but we have 10 months to figure it out, thankfully, before our wedding. one thing that i do know is that we’ll go the custom route, just like we did for my engagement ring, as my fiance bought the diamond from a broker and then we went with a jeweler he recommended. i’m really excited to get to design it!
