About Mrs. Sunbeam

Hometown Love: Lights, Camera, Party! : wedding grove city pictures pro pics recap Dsc 713

Shazam! That’s what I think our lighting added to our pictures when I look back at these reception shots—a bit of shazam. Since Mr. Sunbeam is an animator, he has lots of creative friends. Several brought their fancy cameras to our shindig and worked our lighting for all it was worth. We’re so happy now we picked this barn for our reception and didn’t overload the room with lanterns or other lighting elements. The simple Christmas lights did JUST the trick. Check out some photos of the reception by our friends photos below!

OK OK, it was hard paring the choices down to these few, but I’ll stop there! Did I make my case for good lighting at your wedding? Besides providing ambiance for your guests, pops of light provides a great back drop for your photographs and can help bring them to life. Knowing a thing or two about cameras help, but that’s where a professional photographer or at least some talented friends comes in handy!

OK brides and brides to be, it’s time these recaps head off to the honeymoon! Let’s take a quick stop in PA, head off to Hawaii, then take a quick stop to the French Laundry in Napa Valley, up next!

Those lights really created a perfect look. It’s amazing how much lighting can make a difference to wedding photos as well as other photos.

The lighting did turn our AWESOME!

I saw the words “French Laundry.” 1.) how on earth did you manage a reservation and 2.) I expect a few dedicated posts on the experience! I know NOTHING about Napa Valley, EXCEPT that restaurant. Helloooo bucket list!

I just think your photos are so fun! I agree with your tips, and I have a bonus one that you might never think of…while mirrors are lovely at reception sites they can create havoc with photography… creating flashes in your photos or adding reflections of the people who you don’t want to remember… I was at a wedding in which the groom’s BIL was a bit of a drama king who spent the day pouting because he didn’t get his way. I realized about halfway through the reception that because said BIL was also photoing all the main events… the professional photographer was capturing his image in all the reflections in the mirrored hall… I ended up trying to take some extra photos getting a different reflection!

@arenyth: He’s not at Pixar, he’s on the advertising end of animation, but we’ve been meeting a lot of Pixar folks and their work sound long but interesting! Dreamworks would be awesome too!

@MJogan: We got lucky! A coworker knows some people and was able to help us get in. A friend has been able to get a few 4 person reservations via open table though! Anyway - I’ll make sure to give all the juicy details!
