Last time I talked about how these plain jane 4×6 envelopes were the deciding factor in the size for our STD magnets.
I randomly found them in the clearance bin at Target for only $.25 per pack of 21 envelopes!! That’s almost a penny per envelope!! Score! Although they were very boring and white, I knew I could fancy them up somehow and I couldn’t pass up a sweet deal. I immediately snatched up 6 packages.
We decided that we wanted to stamp and emboss images on our envelopes, so I went to Michaels and bought some inkpads in our wedding colors. I also bought some pretty swirly stamps and a set of whimsical bird stamps to play up our Lovebirds theme.
I finished off my purchases with some clear embossing powder and an embossing heat tool, and then we were ready to start on our envelopes!
I did all the inking, stamping, powdering, and shaking off the excess powder while Mr. S happily embossed. He had the fun job of melting the powder and watching each image “puff up”. I was insanely jealous of his one easy task, but also too much of a control-freak to risk letting him stamp crooked birds on my envelopes… so I shut my mouth and let him have his fun.
Step 1: Stamp a pink girly bird on the bottom right corner of the envelope.
Step 2: Generously pour embossing powder over the stamped area and then shake off the excess powder.
Step 3: Hand to Mr. S to heat emboss.
Once we went through all the envelopes, we did the same all over again with the green boy bird.
I really love how they turned out together. Aww, lovebirds <3
Then we stamped the bottom left corner with a pretty swirly flourish.
Look at Mr. S concentrating so hard on heat embossing.
He’s so cute. <3
He sent this iPhone photo to Bridesmaid N to show just how pleased he was with his hard work.
A few of our finished envelopes… It was a very long process due to all the steps! But we were a pretty darn good team, if I do say so myself. We knocked out all the envelopes in record time.
I’m not quite sure why we spent so much time on envelopes… they usually just end up in the trash anyway. Most likely, people will just tear through them and not even notice the fancypants design that we labored over. But our favorite part about this project is that we worked on the envelopes together and we really love how they turned out. I don’t know… but my hope is that someone will appreciate them and hopefully someone will think, “Ohh, this is SO Mr & Miss Sunrise!” ![]()
