OMG Shoes…

May 26th, 2010 @ 11:43 am by Mrs. Frog

Has anyone seen that ridiculous YouTube video that I’m referring to in my post title? If you haven’t, you may want to avoid it… I promise you, it will be in your head for the rest of the day… and every day for the rest of your life. You’ve been warned.

So initially I really loved the idea of the colored shoe trend. With my colors being purple, blue and gray, I thought a pop of purple or blue would be a great choice for shoes. Then fate stepped in…

Let me rewind. I will assume everyone is familiar with Nordstrom, yes? And most will be familiar with their discount store called The Rack. But… how many of you know of… Last Chance? Oh, I have your attention? Yes, I thought that might happen.

Unless you live in Phoenix or have friends/relatives here, most likely you haven’t heard of it. Well friends, let me be the temporary shoe angel – Last Chance is the discounted-discount-Nordstrom. Once items are no longer a fit for Nordstrom (past season, return, irregular, etc.) they are sent to The Rack. Last Chance is the final destination for clothing, shoes and purses, getting items from both Nordstrom and The Rack. For example, you can find a pair of Jimmy Choos that were originally priced at $300+ for $30. I’ve gotten BCBG dresses that were originally $200 for $25, it’s an endless amount of great finds, if you’re willing to put in the time.

See… it’s a big mish mosh:

So you really have to be willing to search… but if you are willing, treasures can be found. Which brings us to my shoe find. Months ago I found a pair of Stuart Weitzmans that I loved and immediately bought (for $20 no less), knowing that I would definitely get a ton of use out of them… perhaps it was also in the back of my mind that they would be a good fit for a wedding shoe being that one of my colors is gray (and my maids are wearing gray dresses with silver shoes).

My hesitation is that they are suede. The wedding is in July and well, suede isn’t the first thing you think of when you think of a summer wedding. I need your honest opinions my dear friends…thoughts?

They are super comfy, fit my color scheme and girly but not too girly. Personally I love them but I’m still wondering if a blue or purple shoe would make more of an impact. I’m also concerned people will think I’ve completely lost it if I show up with suede shoes in 80+ degree heat.

Truth time… are these a yes… or a no?

Ahh I LOVE them. Awesome find! I’m jealous I don’t have a similar store near me!

I absolutely LOVE those shoes, but I honestly think that suede is not appropriate for a summer wedding. I love the color and think either gray or blue or purple would work…I love colored shoes! I would go back to Last Chance and see what other bargains you can find! Maybe something in a cute satin? Good luck! :)

SHOES… OMG SHOES! Haha thanks for getting that into my head again dear froggie!! :)
And I think they’re adorable, but I know what you’re talking about with the suede. But hey, they’re your shoes and if they make you happy, fit your colors (bonus) AND are comfy (double bonus) then what do you have to lose?!

I just wasted two minutes of my life watching that video ;)
Wear whatever you want to wear regardless of what anyone else thinks! The suede shoes are cute and it is a bonus that they are comfy.
It is trendy to wear shoes like the manolos above. Are they cute? Yes. Overdone? Maybe.
The suede ones add so much personality to your ensemble!

Love the shoes…I wore Stuart for our wedding, BUT I think suede in July in Chelan will be too hot. I don’t think the color is the issue, it’s the material…you want to be comfortable and not have sweaty feet!

I used to live in Flagstaff, and my parents and I would make weekend trips to Phoenix, specifically to shop at Last Chance. I grew up on 90-95% off Nordstrom priced stuff–amazing shoes and clothes. Now I have the hardest time justifying the purchase of shoes that are not from there. Quality plus amazing prices? Sigh. I live way too far away.

And, I hear your concern about suede in August. You may be on to something. But $20 Stuart Weitzmans are awesome and you could wear them other times if you don’t end up using them for your wedding.

Oh my goodness, you got my heart racing by even mentioning Last Chance. ;)

It really depends on your dress - if you’ve got a more structured cut, you could probably get away with the suede very easily, but if your dress is more floaty and ethereal, you may need to keep looking - at least for wedding shoes, take those puppies and RUN (unless you want to trade me for my silver satin shoes!)

Oh man, this post is giving me pangs of jealousy. I would LOVE to wear a pair of shoes that gorgeous on the big day… but my fiance is exactly my height, and I don’t want to look taller than he is. So for me, it’s gotta be flats or barefoot.

I’m with some of the PP here. I love the shoes, but they really don’t say wedding in July to me. I think they would make your little feets hot.

Sure they’re Suede…but they’re also peep toes. So I think it’s totally a win. Not to mention they are really adorable…if you don’t want ‘em I’ll buy ‘em!

I’d have to see them with your dress…but unless the shoe is totally covered in suede on the inside, I don’t see how it would be too “hot”…and whether suede is appropriate for summer depends on the shoe…these are peep toe shoe…to me that totally indicates summer shoe…

they’re super cute and you could go either way depending on what you want. if you really would like to wear these shoes, then go for it! i don’t think the suede matters. on the other hand, if you have the itch to buy a different pair of shoes, use the suede as an excuse and shop away! i’m not helpful.

It would make less impact, color-wise, if that’s important to you, but comfort and the right level of cute sound like worthy positives.
