Flip Flops for a Dollar

Providing flip flops for female guests at the wedding allows them to kick off their killer heels and get their butts out on the dance floor while keeping their feet nice and clean.

There will be no achy feet or bare-nekkid feet at our wedding! Our ladies will be greeted with a basket of dancing shoes like these:

A few months ago, Target was running an awesome promotion called The Great Save Event.

I found colored flip flops at my local Target for only $1! They are made of soft and cushy foam rubber and will be perfect for our stiletto-wearing guests.

So I bought a bunch in green and pink. I got four pairs in L (9/10), four in M (7/8), and four in S (5/6)… for a total of 12 pairs.
I got home and placed them in this basket I had to see how they would look like, and they fit perfectly. I think that I will tie each pair in a ribbon of the opposite color with a small tag indicating the size. I will also make a sign and attach it to the front of the basket with a wider ribbon.

But I knew that 12 pairs wouldn’t be enough, so I ended up going to Michaels with a 40% off coupon and got a much bigger basket. Then I quickly dashed off to Target again and loaded up my shopping cart with about 40 more pairs of flip flops. I think the sales associate that checked me out probably thought I was nuts! But that’s okay because my dancing ladies will thank me. :)

Are you planning to provide dancing shoes at your wedding? Would you kick off your heels and throw on a pair of flops?

We went to the Old Navy $1 flip flop sale this weekend. I had heard that they tend to get sold out pretty early in the day. Our local Old Navy was opening at 7 AM for the event, and we managed to get to the store by 7:30 (on a Saturday!). They still had all of the colors and sizes in stock, and it was actually fun shopping at 7:30 AM. Unfortunately, they probably won’t repeat this promotion again until next year…

Target’s “great save” event in my town did not include any flip flops. In fact, the whole sale seemed like a total flop! :(

I don’t think you’ll have any left overs. Trust me, the aunties will get to them

Yay for flips! I bought 30 pairs at Target for my upcoming wedding! I don’t think I will have any left over at least I hope not. My mom actually just made a really cute bin to put them in! I will have to post a pic. Can anyone tell what the saying is on the dark brown basket with the black flip flops and green ribbons? I am trying to come up with my saying.

My daughter and I were at Michael’s today and saw some on sale. She casually mentioned that she would have liked to have had these for the lady guests (she knows that I always kick off my shoes and hit the dance floor). So we walked out with 26 pair of black & white flip flops. How do you know if you purchased enough or too many? Anyone have any suggestions?

@that girl: I didn’t really have a system for this. I just randomly picked a number and stuck with it. But I’m pretty sure that I’ll have enough for the ladies that really need it. And I hope that the ladies that don’t really need to kick off their shoes would still like to take a pair home as a souvenir. Who doesn’t like free stuff? ;)

@he179103: It says, “In case your feet get tired and sore
…grab a pair and dance some more.”
