Flip Flops for a Dollar

May 26th, 2010 @ 9:14 am by Mrs. Sunrise

Providing flip flops for female guests at the wedding allows them to kick off their killer heels and get their butts out on the dance floor while keeping their feet nice and clean.

There will be no achy feet or bare-nekkid feet at our wedding! Our ladies will be greeted with a basket of dancing shoes like these:

A few months ago, Target was running an awesome promotion called The Great Save Event.

I found colored flip flops at my local Target for only $1! They are made of soft and cushy foam rubber and will be perfect for our stiletto-wearing guests.

Flip Flops for a Dollar : wedding favors minneapolis Sandals So I bought a bunch in green and pink. I got four pairs in L (9/10), four in M (7/8), and four in S (5/6)… for a total of 12 pairs.
Flip Flops for a Dollar : wedding favors minneapolis Sandals01 I got home and placed them in this basket I had to see how they would look like, and they fit perfectly. I think that I will tie each pair in a ribbon of the opposite color with a small tag indicating the size. I will also make a sign and attach it to the front of the basket with a wider ribbon.

But I knew that 12 pairs wouldn’t be enough, so I ended up going to Michaels with a 40% off coupon and got a much bigger basket. Then I quickly dashed off to Target again and loaded up my shopping cart with about 40 more pairs of flip flops. I think the sales associate that checked me out probably thought I was nuts! But that’s okay because my dancing ladies will thank me. :)

Are you planning to provide dancing shoes at your wedding? Would you kick off your heels and throw on a pair of flops?

I bought flips last year for my wedding last week. THEY WERE A HIT! Everyone loved it and so many people said they have never seen this done before. Can’t wait to see how yours turns out!

its a really cute idea but in my experience (personally) i have been to 3 weddings where the bride did this and she was left with 60 pairs of flip flops at the end of the night :( its unfortunate because its such a nice thought

My mom got a ton of flips last summer at the Claires outlet. They were having one of those 20 items for $5 sale and the flips were included. They are hot pink with rhinestones, which matches my color perfectly!

I’m also getting separate flips for my bridesmaids in their actual sizes. And I’m getting the Nina bridal flip flops.

This is one of those things I totally intended to do, but with a month left (and no $1 sales in sight) I decided its outside the budget. Our guests won’t know its missing, but I sure wish I was able to pull it off!

I was the 2nd person in line at my Old Navy this past Saturday to score $1 flip flops. I was able to get 20 in pink and green and my family was able to get an additional 15. Plus I was able to get an extra discount and had a coupon :)

I like this idea if you’re having an outdoor or beach wedding. :-)

I love this idea! I told my FMIL that I wanted to do this and she immediately told me flip-flops at a wedding are “trashy”. I, personally, do not plan on keeping my heels on all night! I live in flip-flops during the summer! I think this is a very thoughful and adorabel idea. She thinks it’s a waste of money.

I will show her this post tonight ;)

Good price on those, I got mine from Old Navy but they were still like, $2.50/pair…and I got about 40 pairs or so, total…

I went to Old Navy last weekend and bought 82 pairs of flip flops. They thought I was crazy. We’re having a beach wedding and giving them out before our ceremony.

This is one of my favourite wedding ideas ( : we had a flipflop basket at prom and EVERYONE appreciated them. The guys didn’t have to hear the girls complain about sore feet and the girls could dance all they wanted ; ) win-win haha

I’m considering doing this as well but how do you know how when to buy and what sizes?

I could have as many as 100 women attending the reception and I don’t want to buy that many sandals and be left with 80, nor do I want to pick up 20 and run out. How’d you decide on your number?

I went to Old Navy last weekend and they were totally CLEANED OUT. Nice to know there are other options out there. :)

I would totally sport one of your flip flops! You find such amazing deals at Target! I’m going to have to start camping out at my local Target too!

I’m doing this too - and it’s just such a nice thoughtful touch, for very little money. Old Navy just had the one-day-saturday, $1.00 flops sale, but the entire wall of flops were completely wiped clean by the time I got there. Haha. They’re not expensive to begin with, so still a GO on the idea! Love the green/pink! Totally reminds me of summer shorts from J.Crew! =]

Oddly enough, facebook just advertised this link to me: http://seagullintl.com/Cat-18-1-90/Flip-Flops-and-Sandals.htm?PageN=3

I have no feedback on it, as I just found it by the ad, but hopefully anyone looking into this, can use this site!
