This past weekend I flew to Providence with a serious wedding “to do” list in hand. Among the many things to tackle: my hair and makeup trial. I’d tucked away inspiration photos for months, all with a consistent look and feel.

I’ll admit that I was a little nervous going alone. I mean, of course the hair dresser and makeup artist were going to tell me I looked fabulous. I needed honest feedback and brutal honesty! So in an effort to be as prepared as possible I arrived with the following:

Hair inspiration photos
Photos of me in my wedding dress
My veil
Camera
Laptop (in the event additional photos/inspiration was needed)

I was all set up and ready to go…

my first hair trial was awful! i have very long, thick hair and all of my inspiration pictures has tight curls throughout, and when i got there they told me it would be impossible for me to have the curls since it was so long! I went alone, equipt with many pictures & my laptop as well! By the time i got to my mothers house to show her, the ’style’ had completely come undone, and looked like a tousled mess! I have yet to go back for my second trial, as i am trying to find different styles that would work! I hope yours went better than mine!

Miss Seashell! I am also a bride getting married in RI, and although I’m originally from there, I haven’t lived there in years! If you get a moment, I’d love it if you could recommend any vendors (including hair & makeup). We’re flying back in two weeks to start booking and I’d love any advice you could give!

I braved my hair and makeup trial alone since 1) all my friends and family live 4+ hours away and 2) I didn’t want them to sit there and watch me get beautified for 3 hours! Can’t wait to see the results of your trial run!!
