First, the materials…
I found this pretty fabric at Jo-Ann. I really loved the white on white peacock feather & floral design.
I used some satin ribbon in our beloved wedding colors. The thick green ribbon is 1 ½” wide and the thinner ones are each ¼” wide.

During my trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics, I also picked up a big peony bloom like the one below. I forgot to take a picture of my peony, but it was light pink and some of the petals were tinged with pale green.
This sparkly green button was also found at Jo-Ann Fabrics. I love that store!
Last but not least, I got some poly-fil. This was way more than I needed, but it was the smallest bag I could find.
Who else thinks the picture on the front of these ladies stuffing the polar bear is a little bit disturbing? LOL. The poor bear looks like it’s in distress. Someone save him!
Anyway… moving on. I carefully measured and cut out two 9″ x 9″ squares.
I really love my Olfa rotary cutter that was gifted to me from Mr. S’s stepmom. It’s so much easier to use than scissors!
With the right sides (pretty sides) together, I pinned both squares together.
Using a ½” seam allowance, I sewed around the edges of the square, making sure to leave a 2″ opening.
Then I turned the pillow right side out.
And I stuffed it!
After I finished stuffing it, I pinned the opening shut. I love the pink & green pins.
Finally, I stitched the opening together using tiny whip stitches.
Ta da!
I wrapped a piece of thick green ribbon around the waist of the pillow and stitched it down in the middle of the other side. The flower will later cover up the stitched ribbon on the other side.
I took my peony apart like Mrs. Pineapple had done for her hair flower.
I removed the little plastic pieces and then put the petals back together to my liking and stitched the peony back up. I really don’t know how I completely forgot to take any pictures of the flower part! I must have been in a hurry to finish at this point. Sorry! Hopefully I can still explain the rest without photos.
Once my flower was sewn back together, I sewed my blingy green button to the center of the flower. And then I turned the flower around and sewed a piece of thin pink ribbon and a piece of thin green ribbon underneath the flower. The green ribbon will be used to tie Mr. S’s ring to the pillow and the pink for mine, of course.
Finally, I stitched the flower to the pillow, covering up the part where the thick green ribbon was already sewn together… and VOILA!
My finished peony bloom ring pillow…
The back of the pillow… the thick ribbon acts as a strap for our ring bearer, so he can just slip his hand securely under it and not worry about dropping the pillow.
As a final touch, I also used tiny alphabet beads to add a hidden message for Mr. S.
It is not seen unless the ribbon is pulled back, but here is a close-up.
Isn’t it cute? It took a while for Mr. S to notice it, but when he finally discovered it, he said, “Aww, P hearts B too!” ![]()
