Mrs. Argyle's Picture
Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot Engagement Date: February 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.
About Mrs. Argyle

So way back when I first started planning, I nixed the idea of a calligrapher. Why? Well, I just wasn’t feeling the formality of it. While our wedding is “formal”, we wanted guests to not feel like it was a black-tie affair. So, I thought I would design some fun wrap-arounds.

That is, until, I found Jessica of Penned and Pretty.

This girl has mastered the art of modern calligraphy. Don’t believe me? Check out some of her work:

Her styles aren’t for everyone, but I’m quite in love with all of them. Plus, with the arrival of our envelopes last week, I CANNOT wait to ship them off to her so I can get them back to admire her work in person.

And, in case you’re wondering – we chose “Pretty Perfect” for our inner and outer envelopes.

Did you hire a calligrapher, or did you take on the task of addressing your envelopes yourself?

I think I’m going to hand address. But probably print on the envelope so I can trace.

We did indeed hire a calligrapher :) We’re having a formal wedding and if we weren’t I don’t think I would have hired one - - there is something about their work that makes invitations look more complete or finished in a formal kinda way….

I am actually planning on buying Modern Marks to teach my self calligraphy as I love the look but also am not having a formal wedding so am going the modern route.

I wish I could afford a professional in my budget because Penned & Pretty work looks gorgeous.
