About Mrs. Paisley

Hard.

We’re narrowing it down when it comes to the boys’ ties to complete the look, but we need a little help from the hive, so please vote in the poll below! Here’s an inspiration board I created, with the help of two photos from our very own Miss Apple Cider and Miss Cowboy Boot!

All photos unless noted are by Miss Paisley

I lucked out that Miss Apple Cider also used David’s Bridal navy chiffon for her ‘maids, because I desperately needed to see a good picture of the color, as the DB website color is not accurate, and all my ‘maids live far away.

The suit in the middle of the inspiration board? That’s what the guys are wearing. Tan seersucker.

That preppy bow tie in navy with pink dots is my favorite at the moment.

Here’s a better look.

How Hard Can it Be to Pick a Tie? : wedding menswear napa 25 2

Next to the ensemble, I arranged a pink tie to act as the bridesmaids’ bouquet and a pair of navy slacks to simulate their navy chiffon gown, to see how it would all look together. Prof. P had a fun time cracking jokes about how the Paisley ‘maids were apparently wearing dresses made out of pants, while I’m sure the Jos A. Banks men were wishing we’d go home already. But you know what, they can deal, because they were equally annoying!

Side rant: the store guys were kinda saying sexist stuff to us the whole time! They were trying to be funny, but failed miserably. No doubt they figured they were building rapport with Prof. P saying stuff like, “Ohh, better go with what SHE says! That’s the only opinion that matters! Hahaha!”

Seriously?

Every single time we tried a new tie with the suit, one of the dudes would be up in our grills with: “What does the little lady think? THAT’S what matters, hardy har har!!!” or, “THAT one didn’t meet her standards” (said in a patronizing tone).

Thanks for ALL the ‘spect you showed me today, gentlemen! I mean, this little lady can barely contain herself with excitement and enthusiasm to return to your store!

If money weren’t an option, I’d be outta there! But, their 60 percent-off-6-or-more-ties-sale that’s going on for the next two days has me sold.

Here are the contenders:

(For reference, our colors are pale aqua, navy blue, peach and pink.)

Option A (the navy bow tie above)

Option B

The light blue, pink and navy striped tie

Option C

The striped bow tie

How Hard Can it Be to Pick a Tie? : wedding menswear napa 44 4

Option D

The peach, navy and light blue tie

Which do you like best?

Have you found ties for your groomsmen yet? Was it difficult to match them to your wedding, or was it simply a cinch? Maybe… easy as tie?

I love the stripes and colors on Option B, but I think Option A has more pop to it to bring the whole look together.

I like the idea of the polka dot bow tie AND the striped bow tie. Can you do a mixture of both? That would add lovely visual interest!

I love the tie & color combo in Option B but I think the bowtie would be such a great look with the tan seersucker that I voted A!

i voted A, but D is my second choice. i find the striped ties with the seersucker a bit too… stripey? plus, i have a soft spot for bow ties and as my fashionista brother pointed out, the ny times said that they are very “in” for spring.

I voted B, beacuse I like ties more than bowties, but the bowtie would be a great option as well! P.s. the sales guys in Jos A Bank did the same thing to me one time when i went in with FI, guess it must be on the job description to be a male chauvinist.

I love the first bowtie! So I would pick option A but if the boys like a tie better then I would pick option B

oh! i love-love-love option “d”! super classy.

i’d go with “a” as a second - because, really, i do love a bow tie.

the striped ties with striped suit seems, well, over-striped to me.

oh, i just want to add that it is *awesome* that you’re using seersucker suits! awesome.

Option A! That polka dot bow tie is so preptastically cute and will look great with the bridesmaid dresses. The striped ties are nice but I think a bow tie is the only option for a seersucker suit.

We went though about 6 ties for Mr. Joey before we found the right one.

We had the same experience at a Jos. A Banks- we went back because the tux jacket for the mr. was way too big and every time I said something two of the salesmen would give each other a look and talk about how SHE doesn’t think it fits and how everyone has to make sure SHE is pleased! They need customer service training!

Very cute choices though- I second 10.10.10, is there anyway to use the navy with pink dots and the navy with pink stripes?

We did Jos A Bank khaki suits but our salesperson was a laaady so we didn’t have to deal with that attitude.

Important! Tell the men to get their own alterations - Jos A Bank charges an arm, leg and a kidney for them unless you’re the groom. (well, i’m not sure if they do them free for all grooms but the hubs is a finangler.)

TheTieBar.com has great ties, too, in case you don’t love any of JAB’s options.

I really love your choices. I can’t pick out a tie before I find a vest and I can’t find a vest! I’ve resigned myself that I might have to wait until end of August when the fall stuff comes out, but that’s cutting it close for our October wedding.

Can I just say that I am obsessed with how amazing your inspiration board is? I love the style of your wedding sooo much!
And as for the ties, I am all about the bow tie options! I think Option A is my favorite if I had to choose, but I like both of them a lot! :)

For some reason, I think that they longer ties look better with the seersucker. All your choices are cute though! I voted for D.

I find that salespeople (not just the men) tend to say things like that because usually it goes over well. If it bothers you speak up, dont fake laugh along or they are just going to keep on making the comments…

I definitely like the blue bow tie with pink dots best! I think it ties in the bridesmaids’ dresses and bouquets perfectly!
