Mrs. Taco's Picture
Mrs. Taco, San Francisco Age and Occupation: 29, writer/editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 37, editor Engagement Date: May 13, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: The Green Room at the War Memorial Veterans Building About Me: I like laughing and talking with good friends over good food and good drink, be it wine, cocktail, or brew. I write and edit things for fun and profit, but I rarely "write" these days without a keyboard and high-speed internets. Favorites include Mr. Taco, my Boston terrier, San Francisco, getting out of town, and the Roaring ’20s. I was kind-of planning a wedding since roughly 2006, when I discovered "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" on the WE channel. I ran and didn't look back with a theme I called "urban vintage," and it culminated in the most magical day a taco could ask for.

Fun with the Internets

May 31st, 2010 @ 5:15 pm by Mrs. Taco

Two of my most cuddly and adorable interests are search results and internet behavior. (Yawn) I’ll sometimes Google-image a word or a phrase, usually related to what I’m working on or thinking about, just to see what comes up and why.

For example, a search for feathers wedding returned a lot of inspiration for decor. But it also returned the image below. There are no words for this, except WTF and hmm, could I pull that off?

So, guess what I did today.

Step 1: type wedding into the Google Image field.

Step 2: become amused, horrified, and delighted by the results.

Step 3: blog about it and hopefully elicit the same reactions from the Hive.

The results included the expected professional wedding photos, dresses, and cakes. But here are some of my non-standard favorites:

1. Underwear gown, where your veil covers more than your dress does.

2. Star Wars wedding, merely pipe dream for most, but not these guys. (Too late, Mr. Taco, we’re not doing this.)

3. Longest wedding-dress train. Go big or go home?

4. Brad and Jen, a seeming million years ago. A reminder that the perfect wedding does not translate into a perfect union. P.S., he was so much hotter here than he is now.

This task helped break some wedding malaise I’ve had lately. Sometimes, I’m immersed in the details, obsessively happily engineering everyone’s good time. Or, I’m about to throw my hands in the air and the wedding binder out the window. They say the last couple months are prime for freakouts, so any and all digressions from that path are welcome.

Any fun/inspiring/laughable search results out there? As a web-savvy hive, I know you’ve all got something good!

aw.. so true. A perfect wedding is only that, a perfect wedding. A good marriage it does not make. Lately, I’ve been searching for funny/amusing youtube videos. There are soo many. Great fun post for a holiday Taco.

Haha, these are all so funny (except for Brad and Jen. I totally loved them when they were married and completely heartbroken when he left her for Angelina!)

Regarding the underwear dress my FI says “what’s wrong with that?! Maybe it was hot out, or maybe they were getting married in a pool!”

Typical guy…

The underware gown is very interesting looking, I don’t think it is going to take off somehow. The Peacock gown is absolutely stunning, must of taken a long time to make.

… I’d be very surprised if the “underwear dress” wasn’t really a bathing suit, not lingerie. Still not very modest, but I’d love to see it in the context of the whole wedding. Did the groom wear a wetsuit?

This is pretty funny. I’ve encountered that underwear dress before and have to wonder who the heck has ever ordered that.
