Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, DallasAge and Occupation: 28, Special Projects CoordinatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity TraderEngagement Date: March 19, 2009Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: Marie Gabrielle, DallasAbout Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
I’ve talked the hell out of the out-of-town guest bags. See here, here, and here. So now it’s finally time to tell you what I ended up doing. First, I used 8 X 10 muslin bags and a stamp for the outside.
Then, I printed out our new last name initial “L” and used my circle craft punch to punch it out, and got these little guys: Read more…
Mrs. Trail Mix, New YorkAge and Occupation: 26, PE TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, MBA StudentEngagement Date: March 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Tannery Pond at the Darrow SchoolAbout Me: I'm a country girl who somehow found herself living in the Big Apple and loving every minute of it. I'm planning a rustic, country-chic wedding in my hometown in upstate New York and it's going to be a Party with a capital P. White wine, flea markets and running keep me happy and my friends, family and fiance are my world. I'm a little bit crafty, a little bit crazy but mostly just crazy in love.
Yep, this one’s all about my dress. And I’m so excited to show it to you guys. I talked a little bit about my dress search before and then mentioned some alterations, but I’ve never actually showed you what it looks like. The reason is that I bought it as a sample and it was way too big, so much so that it was really unflattering until the alterations were complete.
Before we get to the picture goodness, I have got to give a serious shout-out to my seamstress, Ellen, of Ellen’s Couture on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. My dress literally had to be cut into multiple pieces and then re-created to fit my shape. Not an easy task, yet she did an incredible job. I love my dress so much and Ellen’s the one who made it so.
(Here is where I’d write the obligatory ALL-CAPS warning to Mr Trail Mix about staying away from this page if I didn’t know that it would be a waste of time since he’s not reading this anyways, ha!)
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for… Read more…

I love wine, cooking, curling up with a good book (nerd alert!), spoiling the furbaby, and of course, the wonderful Mr. Buttons! We are planning a lighthearted and whimsical wedding (with a good deal of DIY projects) in Clearwater, Florida, but from a distance of 800 miles away! We are looking forward to sharing our day with our family and friends, and most importantly, starting our lives together as husband and wife!
I wanted to stop and take a few minutes to talk about Mommy Buttons. I mean, it IS Mother’s Day after all…
I feel like I’m probably biased, but I really do believe that I have the greatest mom in the entire world.
From the tender age of about 2 or 3, she somehow managed to put up with my many neuroses (for instance, my food had to be placed in specific locations on my plate, or else I freaked out… I could list a few more, but you might think I’m insane). Read more…
Mrs. Pin Cushion, Oakland, CAAge and Occupation: 25, Nurse Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, PhD StudentEngagement Date: November 23, 2008Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Radonich Ranch, Los GatosAbout Me: I'm the 3 Cs: crafty, creative and quirky (oh, that's not a C? Close enough!). I'm also a recycling fanatic, fluent in bad accents and I have the loudest laughter this side of the Mississippi. I have not just one sweet tooth, but a whole mouth full of sweet teeth. I cry at 97.4% of all movies I see, but my fiance's always there to hand me a tissue. My geek-chic fiance and I are planning a wedding full of color, cookies and handmade goodness and I can't wait to spill the beans on all of our crazy ideas!
Last summer, my photographer crush arrived to take my and my main squeeze’s engagement photos. We picked Kelty (of Steep Street Photography) up from the airport in the morning (Kelty had lived in San Francisco when we “discovered her”, but has since moved to Portland. We had already been lured into her photography lair, and booked her anyway).
Mr. Pin Cushion and I had picked Golden Gate Park as our shooting location. But, as anyone who’s been there knows, the park is a big as the ocean is wide. Okay, maybe not that big. But it’s big. I had created a photo shoot in my head (on paddle boats at Stow Lake, on the carousel), but had failed to convey my vision to… um… anyone (oops). And for some reason, when Kelty arrived, I still didn’t say much.
We ended up just going with the flow and walking through the park together. When someone saw something that piqued our interest, we’d holler, and head over for some shots. I’m glad we ended up doing the shoot this way. It was very casual, and Kelty has such an amazingly creative eye that we ended up with photos that we NEVER would have if I had tried to dictate the shoot.
I’ll stop my jibber-jabbering now and show you the photos from our shoot. Read more…
Mrs. Taco, San FranciscoAge and Occupation: 29, writer/editorFiance's Age and Occupation: 37, editorEngagement Date: May 13, 2009Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: The Green Room at the War Memorial Veterans BuildingAbout Me: I like laughing and talking with good friends over good food and good drink, be it wine, cocktail, or brew. I write and edit things for fun and profit, but I rarely "write" these days without a keyboard and high-speed internets. Favorites include Mr. Taco, my Boston terrier, San Francisco, getting out of town, and the Roaring ’20s. I was kind-of planning a wedding since roughly 2006, when I discovered "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" on the WE channel. I ran and didn't look back with a theme I called "urban vintage," and it culminated in the most magical day a taco could ask for.
The title makes it sound a lot more rock star than it actually was.
I finally had another wedding dream. Unlike the first noteworthy one, it didn’t involve pretty dresses or making the most of a problem sitch. Rather, it involved blacking outduring the entire event. Not like a drunken haze where everything is blurry. More like I wasn’t even there, and it somehow happened without me realizing it.
Things I remember:
Asking Mr. Taco (incredulously) who went. I specifically asked if David and Sonia went; we just went to their wedding.
Feeling disappointed, but commenting that “at least there were photos.” You know, because I missed the whole thing. What? Dream Me sucks, man; she missed her whole wedding and that’s the first thing she says? I guess it’s what I thought to say, but anyway…
Mr. Taco telling me about something he and his brother were doing before the ceremony. Grabbing a bite, maybe?
I don’t really assign big time important meanings to dreams, especially since mine boringly center on things I’m worried about at the time. But I’ll try to remember this one; perhaps a subconscious reminder to actually enjoy my wedding, the fun things we have in store, and the dear friends and family from near and far. Read more…

The soon-to-be hubs plays "Mr. Fix-It" in our new condo while I swoon over beautiful, personalized stationery and choose shades of aubergine for my bridesmaids' dresses... and thus begins my new fairy tale! Skirting to the East Coast for our September nuptials where my home state of Rhode Island awaits with fall foliage, I'm just a few dress fittings and bachelorette party away from saying "I Do" to a very happy ending!
I reorganized my desk today and pulled open the box that I used to save our engagement cards. There must be at least a hundred cards in there! How lucky can we be to have such love and support from our wonderful friends and family? I’m just taking a moment to feel thankful…

This summer I will not only be a bride, but a bridesmaid, officiant, and attendee as well---it's all about weddings in my life right now, full of so many exciting moments and projects. We're planning a fab New York City wedding weekend full of family, love and lots of color!
I was standing on the top floor of a beautiful building in downtown Manhattan gazing over the lights and the buildings as far as the eye could see, and I knew then, I had to be married in New York City. The fact that I had yet to find someone to marry was aside the point, this I knew for certain—whoever, whenever, we would be in good ol’ New York City.
One of the first things we discussed after returning from our blissful engagement weekend in Ottawa was our wedding venue. Several years after that moment gazing out over the Manhattan skyline, and now actually knowing who I would be marrying, I was still convinced that I wanted to be married with a New York City backdrop. Thankfully, Mr. Hermit Crab felt a similarly strong connection to the area, and we (alright, alright, I) began to do research. Read more…

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Online SalesEngagement Date: February 8, 2009Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Amy's ManorAbout Me: I'm an opinionated Midwestern girl now living in the Valley of the Sun marrying a laid back Northwestern guy. I'm equal parts sass, silly and sweet. I'm fiercely loyal with a strong devotion to my family and friends. I have a not-so-secret obsession with apple juice, a new obsession with DIY projects and I love a really good cheese plate...with lots of wine. After 7 blissful years of dating, I'm having the time of my life planning the destination wedding of my dreams to my Mr. Frog-turned-Prince Charming.
Anyone else overwhelmed by the prospect of looking perfect on your wedding day? The beauty routine alone is enough to cause moments of paper bag breathing. Perhaps I’m just not one of those look-at-my-perfect-skin-and-movie-star-white-teeth brides.
I know I should be washing my face and exfoliating and primping and prissing but I have to be honest, most nights all I want to do after a long day of work is crawl into bed and shut my eyes.
Mrs. Starfish, Boston/NewportAge and Occupation: 25, Operations AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, SalesEngagement Date: October 8, 2008Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: The Atlantic Beach ClubAbout Me: I'm a perfectionist who is a planner at heart. I don't do well with surprises. I love planning, crafting, Newport RI, family and friends, and most importantly, Mr. Starfish---all of which will be big components in our October wedding in our favorite little city by the sea.
Last month, Mr. Starfish and I closed on our first home. (Yay!) What does this have to do with weddings? Well… not much, but it has a lot to do with our registry. I’ve mentioned before that we don’t have any basics. In college, we lived in a shore town that had everything included when you rent an apartment (due to also being a summer rental), including everything from furniture to cookware. After college, we moved in with Starfish Mom to save up for our little dream home and again didn’t have a need to buy any housewares.
So what is a soon-to-be-wed couple to do when they have nothing to put in their new place? Hmmm… one word comes to mind—registry. Over the past year, we’ve created our dream list of items for our future (now actual) home. We’ve searched and searched for the perfect place settings, glassware, bedding, lamps, trash cans, cookware, ironing board, etc.
My bridal showers are both in June, and between our closing date and the shower there is about a 3 month lapse of living in our home with nothing. So we started buying. Read more…
Mrs. Guinea Pig, Baltimore, MD Age and Occupation: 26, PhD student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Operations Director at a non-profit Engagement Date: December 25, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010Venue: The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club About Me: I'm a tomboy science nerd whose girly side has made a startling appearance thanks to wedding planning! I love to bake, knit and sew but I also ride a motorcycle (that Mr. Guinea Pig wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole). We live with our three crazy cats and love to read, travel, watch movies, and do home improvement projects together! My parents/family are Canadian but I'm definitely American, although I've lived in 5 different countries, 6 different states, and speak Russian fluently. Mr. GP and I met online (did I mention I'm a scientist?) and had a whirlwind romance - now we can't wait to get married & celebrate with all our friends and family in a blue and yellow waterfront affair!
Today, I get to marry the man who ate eggplant on our first date only for me to discover later that he hates eggplant and is the pickiest eater I know - but he already knew he’d blow his chances if he didn’t try it. The man who would drive to my house in the middle of the night to sing me my favorite song, just to cheer me up. The man who will kiss my forehead any time I lean in because he knows it’s my favorite thing in the world. The man who makes me happier than I thought anyone ever could. I am a lucky, lucky girl.
This past week has been amazing, with love from family and friends pouring in. Judging from the many times I’ve cried (from happiness/love) already, I’m going to need to stuff my clutch with tissues to bring with me today!
I am so excited this day is finally here, and I couldn’t have planned it without you, hive. Read more…
Mrs. Dolphin, Gainesville, FLAge and Occupation: 24, Graduate Architecture StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Interactive Interface DeveloperEngagement Date: February 14, 2008Wedding Date: May 2010Venue: Plantation Bay Country ClubAbout Me: I’m currently a Graduate Student at the University of Florida studying Architecture. I enjoy playing Scrabble with my Fiance, rooting for the Florida Gators, making any drink that involves a blender, cleaning (yes... I’m crazy), design... GOOD design that is, the new Pepsi with natural sugar, taking pictures, discovering new places in the U.S., and obsessing over doing (and designing) everything myself for our upcoming wedding!
You know I love me some handmade artwork. Throughout the wedding process, Mr. Dolphin and I have tried as much as we can to buy handmade items through local vendors. When buying handmade, not only are you getting an item which is (at times) completely custom, but you are also supporting an artist (and their art) and usually getting a better deal over factory-made items (which is always a plus!).
This past week, I met with the very talented handmade artist, Carolyn of Framed Letter Art, out of Orlando, FL. She makes fully customizable art of words (like married couples’ new last names, children’s names, inspirational words, etc.) from photographs of letters inspired by architecture and nature that she’s taken from across the United States.
“Love” is the first piece Carolyn ever made, and it was for her mother… how sweet!

About Me: I am a tree-huggin' farmer turned enthusiastic wedding-planner. I live in a house truck and wear flip-flops more often than shoes. In my old life I was a high school Spanish teacher in love with a crazy guy who lived off-the grid on a farm in New Hampshire. But, we decided to mix things up a bit, quit our jobs and move to New Zealand. My southern hemisphere lifestyle involves growing veggies, teaching, running our small non-profit, and surfing. I love laughing, singing, playing, and the inspirational Mr. Veggie (of course!). For our wedding, I am committed to throwing a killer party that celebrates our values without breaking the bank. Look forward to an eco-thrifty summer-campy weekend-long extravaganza.
I have been in love with this lamp shade ever since it enticed me to enter my favorite store when we moved to Raglan about 2 years ago. It has been sitting there in the window teasing me ever since.
But wait, it has cousin. A beautiful cousin. A cousin that I must have. Read more…

I like reading wedding blogs, Photoshopping wedding design mock ups, making lists, and planning, planning, planning! I’m a bit of an anomaly, on one side I’m a very girlie girl, I collect shoes, I lay out my outfits 4-6 weeks in advance, and I’d never leave the house without my hair curled and makeup on. But on the other side, I’m a total tomboy, I love to go camping and hiking, play drinking games (hey, I’m Irish!) and most of my closest friends are guys. My fiancé and I are planning a DIY-focused wedding with a balance between easygoing (what he wants) and chic and stylish (what I want), and are tying it all together with elements in lavender, sage, butter cream and chocolate.
Like the need for fun/silly photographs, for example.
Mr. Cola and I were lying in bed, talking the other night about our wedding day schedule, and it came up that he has to take pictures with the groomsmen before our first look. I reminded him that he needed to remember to get a shot taken of all the guys jumping in the air. Sort of like this:
