Thank you all so much for your comments on my VERY important diamond decision. I was totally overwhelmed (in a good way) by all your thoughtful advice AND totally intrigued by one reader’s suggestion that we invert the yellow/white gold in the design so as to have yellow daisies. Yellow daisies sound pretty, non?
But I’m getting ahead of myself. Did I make a decision? Yes. The decision is NO Diamond. And with that question answered I quickly moved on to pondering this intrinsically intriguing inversion. I mean quick like lightning. I emailed Adzia about four minutes after reading puzzle’s comment to ask if she could invert the metals and send me a new CAD image. And because she’s awesome she did. And because you all are awesome I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this new diamond-less development.
So let’s get ready to rumble. It’s daisy decision time round two. Ding ding!
In the left corner we have our original contender Yellow/White Daisies:

Soon after our Save the Date magnets arrived, I went to paper heaven. Xpedx is paper heaven. And how, how, how had I no idea such a store existed?

Nach-yo cheese. Fountain.
Yes, nacho cheese fountain.
A little back story:
When I first got engaged, one of the guys I dated back in high school (yes, we are still friends) would always write comments on my Facebook page about how we should get a nacho cheese fountain for our wedding. After reading his comments and rolling my eyes, I would respond with, “I’m pretty sure that’s not possible.”
So fast-forward almost an entire year to February 2010. I was at a wedding. The reception was held at the City Museum, and cocktail hour was taking place beforehand. So, into Architectural Hall I walked to find this:

This past week I met up with Debbie of Alterations Unlimited at Solutions Bridal to check out my wedding veil she was altering. From my previous post here, you can see that I decided to have a designer make my veil to look like one of the fabulous $630 veils I loved at Solutions Bridal (at 1/6 the cost!). Well, that didn’t turn out all so well. Mostly the reason it didn’t turn out well is because I didn’t speak up when I didn’t like the outcome of the veil that was made for me. I have a tendency to do that. I just didn’t want to hurt the designer’s feelings when I didn’t like the cut of the veil. I should have realized then that I paid her good money to make me a veil that I wanted and that I need to get it fixed so it was just the way I imagined.
Soo… last August, when the veil was finished, I just went with it. I tried it on for Mr. Dolphin and agonized over the cut of the veil for months. What was wrong with the cut, you ask? Well I wanted a cut more like this, which was straight and over the shoulder, like all the past veils I tried on:

And the designer cut the veil with these ’wings’ I called them, like this:

The OOT Bags have been a big item on our to-do list that has been pushed off in the planning. I have big ideas for these little bags. After reading Mrs. Lemon’s post, I knew I wanted to include lots of snacks for all of our OOT guests. Every guest is from OOT and many will be driving close to 5 hours or flying in to get to the wedding. I want to make sure they feel welcome right from the moment they arrive at their hotel.
I’ve gone back and forth on what to include. I’ve debated on RI treats or NE treats or going with our navy and white color scheme, but then we kept finding fun nautical/shore treats and decided to go with a nautical theme. Now we just need to narrow down exactly what will go into these bags. We know the basics, such as a welcome letter, wedding information, area information, water bottles, and maybe postcards, but we’ve found an overflow of ideas on the snack front.

Confession: Right now I am wearing a bra from the 9th grade. I’m 25. I fail at lingerie—it’s just not on my radar. I’ve never had a good experience, never found anything that made me look anything less than a dingbat, and just bah. Honeymoons and wedding nights are times when one is supposed to break out the big guns, but I don’t have any guns. The closest thing to lingerie I wear is a white ribbed tank and VS Pink undies. It’s either that or nekkid. Why is that? Well, let me tell you.

So, I haven’t talked about our registry yet, and we’re already married. I think maybe this is actually better because I can tell you what we did wrong.
So, when we started registering I was blinded by the shiny appliances, porcelain plates, endless gadgets, and just new-everything. I got a little greedy with the scanning gun and wanted EVERYTHING.

However, once we started getting presents I had wildly registered for, I realized maybe we didn’t really need all the things we’d chosen.

Recently, I did two things for the first time: 1) attended a bridal shower and 2) co-hosted a bridal shower. Yes, the bridal shower I helped to throw was the only one I’ve ever been to! I was kind of nervous about how it was all going to come together, since I was total novice at the whole concept of showers, but I think it turned out beautifully. I want to share the fruits of our labor, so hopefully maybe some other newbie bridesmaids can get some ideas!
The shower was for Bridesmaid Erica (whose FRIGGIN’ AMAZING wedding has now come and gone!). MOH Kelly thought of a great theme: cherry blossoms. Erica loooooves cherry blossoms, because they represent both Washington DC (her hometown), and Japan (a place that is very significant to her, both personally and professionally). The theme and the forces of nature intersected perfectly that weekend, by the way, because the shower coincided with the first weekend that the cherry blossoms in DC were in full bloom!
MOH Kelly worked her butt off for months gathering decor items, and when it was all set up, voila! We had ourselves a cohesive, Asian-influenced, lavender-pink-and-silver-colored, cherry-blossom-themed event!
We set up a table for favors (fortune cookies and chopsticks with a cherry blossom print), which were packaged up in cute little take-out style boxes.

I enjoy my tattoos, especially this one. I suppose this is a plus, seeing as how they’re, um, not coming off.
So, I never think twice about exposing them, even after some lamented the irreversible damage I inflicted on my skin. Half the professional people in these parts, including my boss, are covered in them, so it’s never been a work issue, either. Nonetheless, there are plenty of brides who cover them up for the day-of, presumably for propriety. Maybe tradition? Photos? Maybe someone’s parents would freak seeing normally covered body art for the first time. I’m sure the reasons are varied.
I think it looks great with wedding dresses because I dig the art, the contrast with white, and, mostly, the personal touch. You can copy dresses, hairstyles, and hairpieces, but you hopefully (right?!) don’t know anyone with the exact same tattoo setup. Par exémple:

That was pretty much my exact response when Mr Trail Mix asked me about ordering yarmulkes for the wedding, only maybe slightly higher-pitched than written words can convey. A yarmulke, also called a kippah, in case ya don’t know, is this:
They are traditionally worn at Jewish services of all types. I thought we had discussed the option of having kippot and nixed it. Mr Trail Mix, rather randomly, decided otherwise, hence my high-pitched reaction to his question about whether I had ordered said yarmulkes yet. Truth be told, it was more of a squawk than anything else…
The simple answer to this question was, “No, dear, I did not.” Which is exactly how I said it, without a trace of sarcasm in my voice.
When MOH Sis Hamster first started planning my bachelorette party, I tried to give my input. Here’s how it went:
Miss Hamster: So… you know I’m not too crazy about oiled-up men and g-strings. I was thinking maybe something more along the lines of a slumber party… or… I really like paint-your-own pottery.
Sis Hamster: Dirty pottery??
Miss Hamster: … No… just regular pottery. Or maybe you know, a party in a library. Nice and quiet.
Sis Hamster: A dirty library???
Miss Hamster: … No….
So, you can imagine my apprehension regarding my bachelorette weekend. Well, the event has come and gone, and I’ve not only emerged unscathed but also had an awesome time! Here’s how it all went down.

So I bought my dress in May… of 2009. May… as in twelve (TWELVE) months ago. It’s as if I can barely remember what it looks like. And don’t worry, I will include the “story that is my dress” in an upcoming post but for now, I need go to confession.
I’ve been… for lack of a better term, wavering about my dress choice. When I first tried it on, I was completely in love and as time has gone on, I’ve been teased by all of the gorgeous dresses I’m seeing in blogs, magazines and through all of the stalking perusing I do online. My only solace is that I’ve heard this is normal… for the most part… so I tried my best to ignore it all and move on.

It’s just one little symbol that conveys such sweetness—especially when utilized as a wedding detail. I adore it! I think a simple ampersand is just the happiest icon around.
