Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/Vermont Age and Occupation: 26, High School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer Engineer Engagement Date: August 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall Reception About Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
About Mrs. Pudding

I know what you’re thinking… we’re getting married in July, and we’re only now proposing to our flower girl?

Well, here’s the thing: We have been hesitant about selecting our flower girl because… well… we have never met her! You see, Mr. Pudding has a very, very large, very, very close knit family. FMIL Pudding had ten siblings, and even though they are scattered across the entire country, they are very much connected. Our little (adorable) flower girl is one of Mr. P’s youngest cousins, and she lives on the other side of the USA. Even though we have never met her, we have heard countless stories, have seen hundreds of pictures, and are very fond of her.

We hesitated a little bit with our decision not because we were unsure if we wanted her to be a part of our wedding, but because we didn’t know if she would want to be. I mean, walking down the aisle can be traumatic for a little girl, and this nervousness can only be heightened by the idea of walking towards people you do not know. After having an extensive chat with her mother though, we decided that Little D could handle the pressure. With permission granted, Mr. P and I went off to The Christmas Tree Shops to put together a little Flower Girl proposal kit.

The kit includes many little goodies, like a pin wheel, a fun little tutu, some “educational toys” (on Mr. Pudding’s persistence), a monogrammed water bottle, and a “Fairy Tale Weddings” coloring book (featuring all of the Disney Princesses on their wedding days).

We’re super excited to have a potential flower girl, and hope that she accepts our proposal! FMIL Pudding will be sewing her dress, so stay tuned for some progress posts!

Who’s your flower girl? Is she really familiar, or are you just getting to know her?

So cute and sweet of you to do that!

We don’t have a flower girl because we don’t have any little ones in our family, plus our church won’t let said flower girl throw petals.

That’s adorable!

Our flower girls are my two nieces. I just “proposed” to them today with a cute homemade card, although I asked them in person when we announced our engagement last year.

aww that’s a really cute idea!!

our flower girl is my FI’s niece. My FI is a wonderful uncle to her, and her and I have grown close. We even took her and her younger brother (our ring barer) on a trip to Boston as part of their Christmas present… she was asking all sorts questions like “what do i call you when uncle and you get married?”… the best part is that we got engaged the night after we got back from that trip! my FI swears he didn’t tell her, so it’s kind of funny how kids pick up on things! i can’t imagine anyone else as my flower girl!

@ miss scissors- we’re not allowed to throw flower petals or anything else either since we’re getting married in a church at a living history museum, so our florist came up with the idea of having the flower girl carry a bouquet made up of 6-8 smaller bouquets (3-4 stems each) for her to pass out to people as she walks down the aisle! she’s gonna be all about this!

So cute!

We have two flower girls - my fiance’s cousins who are 4 and 6. They, too, are adorable!

I still need to officially propose to my flower girl. She is one of my best friends daughter. Since she is only a year right now…I don’t know a good way to ask her…

@miss oasome - I LOVE that idea! I was kind of bummed about not throwing petals, but I think this is such a cute alternative! Thanks for sharing.

I just did something like this too! Though my invite wasn’t so full of goodies… I made a cute card with a poem in it and added a handmade flower headband and she loved it!

I am in the same boat sorta — we don’t know any little girls. . . and my Mom’s friend whose daughter was the flower girl in my Mom’s wedding wants her grandaughter to be the flower girl in my wedding & they are paying for everything — so I say, how can I go wrong! I’m excited now. .. soooo here I go :).
